One of those cases, Stepho v Allstate, 259 Ga 475, invalidated a portion of Allstate's family immunity clause in automobile policies and was chosen by the Fulton Daily Report as one of the most important appellate decisions of 1989.. Ed, a member of the Georgia Bar, is admitted to practice before both the Fifth and Eleventh Circuits and the Supreme Court of the United States. He has served as a judge for the High School Mock Trial Competition, as a volunteer for Legal Clinic for the Homeless,1000 Lawyers for Justice and as a group leader for many years at the University of Georgia Law School for the State Bar Orientation Workshop on Professionalism for first year students. He chairs the St. Pius Scholarship Fund which assists inner city kids in Jacksonville, is a member of the Lawyers Club of Atlanta and the Old War Horse Lawyers Club and has been married since 1974 to Catherine. They have two grown sons and one granddaughter. The family enjoys tennis, hiking, boating, the beach, Lake Oconee, the Braves and Bulldogs football.
