He is a member of the Alabama State Bar, American Bar, Birmingham Bar and Shelby County Bar Associations.  Additionally, Burton is an active member of many different sections of the Birmingham Bar Association, including the Probate Law Section where he currently serves as its Contiuing Legal Education Chair in 2013.  Additionally, Burton is a graduate of the Birmingham Bar Association’s Future Leader’s Forum and a member of the Advisory Board of teh Birmingham Bar Volunteer Lawyers Program where he serves as C0-Chair of Fundraisers.. Burton earned his bachelor’s degree from Vanderbilt University and his law degree from Cumberland School of Law.  Prior to attending law school, he worked in Media Relations and Marketing for the Auburn University Athletics Department and the Atlanta Hawks.  He also served as the Campaign Coordinator for Alabama Supreme Court Justice Ralph Cook’s 2000 re-election Campaign.. Burton serves as Advisory Council President of the Holy Family Cristo Rey Catholic High School, and is an active member of many other organizations, including the National Guardianship Association, the Alumni Board of the Altamont School and Hand in Paw of Birmingham.  He previously served as a Certified Delta Society Therapy Dog Team with his faithful German Shepherd Heidi from 2006-2009. Burton also is a founder and partner in a local craft brewery, Cahaba Brewing Company.

Burt W. Newsome was born in Geneva County, Alabama on September 4, 1966. He was raised in Columbus, Georgia. Burt obtained a B.S. in Finance from Troy University, where he graduated Magna Cum Laude. While at Troy, he was inducted into the Phi Kappa Phi and Beta Upsilon Sigma honor societies and was also a member of The Lambda Chi Alpha social fraternity and a Senator in the Student Government Association.Burt later attended and graduated from the Birmingham School of Law - a private law college located in downtown Birmingham, Alabama. While at BSL, Burt was named the Outstanding Freshman of the Year and graduated with honors in the top 10% of his class.Burt worked in the banking industry for 10 years before beginning his law practice. While in the banking industry, he obtained his Certified Bank Auditor designation and also worked in Special Assets managing a large loan portfolio of problem credits. This business experience gives Burt an invaluable background that he uses each day in his practical, cost-effective approach to solving legal problems. With over 16 years experience in practicing law, Burt is recognized as an expert in assisting banks in reducing charge-offs, repossessing collateral, obtaining payoffs on non-accrual and poorly rated credits, and getting recoveries on charge-off loans.

Brian Miller was born and raised in Birmingham, Alabama. He attended the University of Alabama at Birmingham and earned his J.D. law degree from the Birmingham School of Law in 2005. After graduating from law school, Brian had opportunities to join several large law firms, but he chose to join Jack McNamee and form McNamee & Miller because he liked Jack McNamee’s philosophy toward clients. Brian wanted to practice law in an environment where clients were treated with respect and given the personal attention they deserved. And so, the two came together and formed McNamee & Miller.
