Veterans' benefits lawyer Sean Kendall has been working to help veterans since his student days at The George Washington University in Washington D.C. In fact, he has been actively studying and pursuing justice for veterans since the inception of the U.S. Court of Appeals for Veterans Claims in 1988, participating in precedent-setting cases such as Ephraim v. Brown (5 Vet. App. 549). Since starting his own practice in the early 1990s, Sean has been helping veterans on thousands of cases all over the U.S. His travels include recent cases in California, Florida, North Carolina, Illinois, Colorado, and other Western States. The U.S. Court of Appeals for Veterans Claims is one of the few federal courts created since the colonies became states and ratified the United States Constitution. Prior to the court's creation, there was no judicial recourse for veterans who were denied their promised benefits. Imagine, no judicial forum for veterans from the Revolutionary War through the Civil War to the Great War, World War II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War. Thankfully, the VA no longer has the final say when it comes to your benefits. Sean Kendall has extensive experience handling all kinds of claims before the VA and the U.S. Court of Appeals for Veterans Claims

I was born in Syracuse, New York; lived in Florida, Labrador, Nebraska and grew up in Michigan. I went to the University of Michigan and graduated with a double degree in English and Oral Interpretation. I was in the Michigan Men’s Glee Club when we won an international choral competition in Wales. I played trumpet in the Michigan Marching band and traveled to an Orange Bowl and the Rose Bowl. I marched in the Rose Parade. I graduated with a Juris Doctor from the Detroit College of Law in 1982.. The last two years of Law School I worked full time clerking at a law firm in Detroit and went to school full time at night. I passed the Bar in Michigan on the first try and worked for a medium sized firm in Detroit. My major job at the firm was putting all of our estate planning into this new device called a computer. I wanted to move from Detroit and picked the best place in the country to live. I came to Colorado and passed this bar exam also on the first try. I have been running my office since May 1983.. As a young lawyer I joined the Chapter 7 panel of Trustees for the Colorado Bankruptcy court. I held dockets once or twice a month in Denver as Trustee. Along with the computerized estate planning I started to represent people in Criminal Court. I mentored with a County Court Judge and found that I was very good at dealing with Misdemeanors and especially the DUI cases.. These three areas of law have been my concentration since the very beginning.. On a personal level: I met my wife here in Boulder and we have two brilliant children. Our daughter Elizabeth is a Junior in College and plans to go to medical school. Our son is a Senior at Boulder High and plans to start at a business school in the fall 2016. I am the Scoutmaster for Troop 77 in Boulder. I am an Eagle Scout and so is my son. My daughter also reached the highest rank in Girl Scouts, the Gold award.. Music remains an important part of my life and I sing in many choirs, I am the section leader for FUMC in Boulder and have been a soloist for choirs including the Boulder Bach Festival.
I have been a part time CO resident my whole life and full time resident for over 10 years now. I have a beautiful wife and the cutest daughter any dad could ask for. When my work schedule allows in the Winter, I enjoy getting up to the mountains and skiing which I have been doing since I was 3 years old. I am also huge fan of the Kansas Jayhawks and Denver Broncos.. My passion is the defense of those who have been accused of a crime. I have always been enamored with the Criminal Justice System and have worked throughout college, law school and now throughout my professional career to help those who have found themselves accused of some wrongdoing by the government. Aside from my criminal defense work, I am an advocate for social justice and fight for equality for ALL in their daily lives. Essentially, I want a world where people can enjoy a peaceful existence with one another.... and am willing to fight (in court and through social justice initiatives) to get that peace.
I became an attorney in order to protect the rights of ordinary citizens accused of crimes. My practice has always been limited to criminal defense because I believe that a criminal accusation is a life-changing event, and that unwavering defense against criminal charges is best accomplished by an attorney whose legal career has been dedicated to criminal defense. I know that criminal charges can affect everything from your family life, to your permanent record, to your professional security. I believe that good legal representation includes more than just knowledge of the law. A good lawyer must be a good listener, willing to work cooperatively with clients to help define their goals and create a roadmap to reach them.
I am a general practice attorney, which is a little bit like a family doctor that you go to for a variety of needs. I find that because I practice in several areas, there is cross-over that allows me to know when one legal issue I am handling affects other areas of my client's life and adjust my advice and work accordingly. One unusual thing about my practice is that I offer legal consulting. Most attorneys require you to retain them to handle your case from start to finish. In addition to doing that, i also consult with people who can't afford to retain an attorney. This means clients pay according to their budget and according to their priority questions and concerns. My commitment to my clients is a realistic appraisal of their legal problem, practical solutions, compassion and honesty in all aspects of my service. I offer free consults to allow prospective clients to get some information at no cost while determing for themselves if my law office is the best fit for their needs. Call us to arrange a free consult and we'd be glad to talk with you. I am currently working virtually which means that I can talk to you by phone or video meeting and email. I can do wills and related documents virtually so that you do not need to come to my office unless you choose to use notary services there. I'm also doing other work like bankruptcies in a similar cases that require hearings are being done by phone or other virtual means.
Having spent over 25 years in the courtrooms across the Front Range, I am a tenacious advocate with a proven trial record. However, I realize that many times negotiating the best plea agreement does not result from threats of motions and/or trial, but understanding the prosecutor, the law, and thoroughly investigating the facts of the case. I also spend alot of time with each client making sure they understand how the law applies to their case and what their options are at each stage of the proceeding. Only then can my clients make a truly informed and knowledgable decision of how to best proceed with their case. That's what sets my firm apart - the ability to communicate to our clients in understandable terms the judicial process, how the law applies to their case, and the risks, consequences, and benefits associated with each step along the way. And if a trial is necessary, we have the experience, skill, and tenacity to fight for our clients before a jury and win! Give me a call and let's talk about how my firm can help in your case.

26+ years Criminal Defense - Never a prosecutor. I have no experience putting people in cages, only keeping them out. Criminal Defense SuperLawyer - Faculty at Trial Lawyers' College for 7+ years - Title IX University Sexual Misconduct Defense Lawyer. Discovering the true story of your starts on day 1. It starts with you and your experience. It continues as we learn about the witnesses, police response, prosecutors and society. Motives, pressures and other blinders lead to false beliefs or false accusations. As we learn the true story, we investigate to support it, and to disprove the prosecution story. Its basis is found in science and psychology. The true story of your case provides the best way to win at trial. It also allows gets to the best plea bargain, if that is your desire. This process works. It works to give you #honestresults.. My job is learn the facts, know the law and present it all to you so you can make good decisions. If your decision is trial, my job is to win (attorney regulation says I cannot promise more than my sincerest effort towards that goal, so that is my promise). This is best done by telling the true story of the case. The Trial Lawyers College taught me how to do that. Now, I teach it to others as part of the Trial Lawyers College Faculty. Second to winning a trial is helping a lawyer to learn how to win.. We handle many University Sexual Misconduct claims, also known as Title IX or Institutional Equity. The standard criminal defense rules are not followed and the burden of proof is 50.1%. It is highly unfair and the schools rarely follow their own rules. Despite these facts, we win at each level. While most of the case is handled at the University level, we also fight these cases in State and Federal Court. The Federal Courts very clearly see the lack of Due Process.. Plaintiff Injury work is quite enjoyable. My goals are for 1) the client to regain health, 2) someone else pays for it, 3) the client gets money to become whole. The work is challenging, and I love getting to know my clients and their friends/family.. The law is important. After more than 26 years practicing, I know law. I always find new bits. Every year, the legislature changes the law and appellate courts interpret it with greater nuance. Sometimes it helps, more often the District Attorney council lobbies to make convictions easier. What never changes is the power of story. A well told true story of a case will win where reliance on law will not. As powerful as "proof beyond a reasonable doubt" sounds, jurors focused on harm and emotion will convict. The true story solves that. The true story challenges the prosecutor to disprove this story of innocence beyond a reasonable doubt. The true story is one the jury sees and feels. It does not rely upon the cold reason of logic, of law.. I love the spirit of the west and Colorado in particular, standing for what you believe in, courage, self determination. The mountains call me, and I ski, mountain bike, dirt bike, hike etc. More recently, I started surfing. Now the ocean waves call every few months.. As a youth, I learned how to eat, dance and speak with neighbors in Louisiana. I will always love my LSU Tigers football team. If you can understand Coach Orgeron, good on you. Geaux Tigahs. For law school, I traveled to Washington DC, attending Georgetown. The East Coast was a different experience, and not much like here. No matter where I go, there is nothing more beautiful than our mountains. Colorado is home. After school, I became a Colorado Public Defender and tried every type of case you can imagine. I won more than I lost. Despite my success, I felt there was more I could do in my cases. In 2010, I attended the 3 week Trial Lawyers College in Wyoming. The work we did there changed my life. I remain passionate, but now I am happy as well. It changed my practice too. I am a better lawyer, and a better human.. I have believe in the individual, not corporations nor govenments. In my time, I have seen too many injustices committed by corporations or govenments to work for them or help them. I hope they will act for the benefit of all, but that is not their motive. Money and power are their motives.
