(1988-1998) I was an Assistant District Attorney for Waukesha County District Attorneys office:       I handled all types of cases from traffic to homicide, misdemeanor and felony cases, Numerous motions, pleas, court trials and jury trials.. (1999-2001) I worked as an Administrative Law Judge for the Wisconsin Division of  Hearings & Appeals in the Probation and Parole Unit. I held numerous revocation hearings all around the state in jails and prisons to determine whether or not to revoke an offender's supervision. I was responsible for issuing written decisions determining what rules were broken and what sentence to impose upon revocation.. (2002-2003) I was an enforcement attorney for the State of Wisconsin Department of Regulation & Licensing. I would review all types of businesses and professions that the state licenses and the profession sets rules of conduct and regulation to determine if there was a violation and what to impose as a sanction for a license or accreditation.. I have been in practice since 1992, and have a diverse legal background.  I bring a wide knowledge of real estate, bankruptcy, litigation, landlord/tenant, contracts and insurance law to my family law practice, which I now practice exclusively.  I also have specialized knowledge in mental health issues, as well as domestic abuse and substance abuse, and often work with mental health professionals in those areas.. I am divorced myself with three daughters, and understand well the stress and emotions that accompany the divorce process. Since graduating from Harvard Law School in 1995, I have successfully prosecuted and defended commercial contract and business tort claims; class actions; professional malpractice actions; defamation, slander and libel cases; real property and municipal disputes; and trust disputes. I frequently assist individuals and commercial clients with insurance coverage disputes and coverage denials and represent individuals and organizations pursuing open records requests. I also represent clients in administrative proceedings, and I am an experienced appellate advocate.. Early in my career, I also served as a staff attorney for a nonprofit law firm dedicated to serving indigent clients. In private practice, I have counseled and represented numerous animal welfare and animal rescue organizations in Wisconsin. I am also an active board member of Patches Animal Rescue, Inc., a non-profit companion-animal rescue organization based in Beaver Dam, Wisconsin.. I have written articles covering legal topics, including several that appeared in the Wisconsin Law Journal.
