Educating clients on their options surrounding their legal matters is an important part of my service to clients. Choosing a method to proceed is also an important discussion with clients. This includes alternative dispute resolution such as divorce mediation and collaborative law, both of which I greatly enjoy. Clients appreciate the creative solutions that come from such alternative approaches and which generally benefit both parties. Most clients note that while divorce is a difficult time, working together through mediation or the collaborative process made the proceedings bearable and yielded better-than-expected results, with long-term benefits. Intangible benefits such as learning to be active listeners and problem solvers together carry with them as they communicate in the future on family matters. Clients state they wouldn’t have done it any other way.In 2011, I was awarded the prestigious Women in Law Award from the Wisconsin Law Journal. I am the immediate past Chair of the Board for the Wisconsin Better Business Bureau, and continue as a board member since 2006.
