Practicing estate planning and probate really suits my personality style - I love to help people "figure things out" and balance the pros and cons of a particular situation to make the best decision possible.. I also strive to be a source of comfort to friends and family, and am greatly satisfied to be able to do that in my professional life as well, helping people get estate planning off their "mental list" and giving them the peace of mind that comes from having the proper estate planning documents in place; and helping families deal with the loss of a loved one by assisting them in navigating the technical and legal details that come up at that time.. When I'm not working, I enjoy music - listening, playing and writing. I am a singer/songwriter/pianist and love sharing songs with friends and family.. I live in Brookline and love the Boston area.

I have been an attorney since 1988 and continue to love my profession. It is not for everyone as it is a much of a lifestyle that remains with me even after I lock the doors of my office when I go home at night. I am a classic "Type-A" person which is a quality necessary to be a good attorney. Even on weekends, I cannot resist having all calls from my office transferred to my cellular telephone as I am a proverbial "junkie" for new legal adventures. Even my hobby, aviation, requires that I am constantly thinking, active and always planning several steps ahead. This is how I practice law.. Fortunately, my wife is my law partner. She too, as a highly experienced and renowned domestic relations attorney, understands and shares my zeal and my need, from a professional standpont, for action, excitement and conquest.. We have two active offices in Massachusetts, one in Brookline, Ma, and the other in Brockton, Ma. There are two fine associates who work for us making the total number of attorneys in our offices numbered at four. We are big enough to take on the large matters and yet small enough that each and every one of us has close relationships with out clients.. I am a graduate of Hofstra University in 1984 and graduated the New England School of Law in 1988. I am admitted to both the Massachusetts Bar and the local Federal Courts.. While I have a liberal bent on social policy, I believe that families, regardless of how they are composed, are the most important and fundamental building blocks of our society. In that manner, I am old fashioned and still believe that for our laws to be just, fair and effective, we all must have strong educational and moral foundations. This is a constant theme in how I provide representation to my clients.

I am an experienced divorce and family law litigator, collaborative attorney and mediator with over 30 years of experience in this field. I have served as President of the Massachusetts Collaborative Law Council and served on its Board of Directors for over ten years. I have trained other professionals in my craft through various organizations including Massachusetts Continuing Legal Education and Massachusetts Collaborative Law Council. I have been appointed Guardian Ad Litem and Special Master by the Court on numerous occasions. I have been recognized by the Martindale-Hubbell Bar Register of Preeminent Women Lawyers 2011 - 2021.. I focus on the long-term welfare of my clients as I assist them in obtaining the healthiest divorce possible. I understand how to reduce, not inflame, the conflict that is part of divorce. I facilitate settlement and productive post-divorce relationships.
For over 50 years, as I represented clients,I always remembered that my job was to get the results the client wanted. I concentrated in representing clients in a wide variety of litigation matters, mostly in major, sophisticated and complex cases. I always tried to avoid litigation if that is possible. It is nearly always better for my clients to resolve a dispute before it gets to court. I would negotiate or mediate a dispute when that made sense. If not, I considered arbitration or litigation. In every case, I analyzed the issues to determine the best strategy and tactics to get the best results possible. Then I implemented that strategy.. I practiced in a multitude of state and federal trial and appellate courts, and also regulatory agencies. Based on that experience, I now concentrate my practice on acting as an expert witness and consultant in legal malpractice matters, as well as acting as a neutral or representative in arbitrations and mediations. As a mediator or arbitral neutral, I always remember that my job is to achieve a solution to the dispute that is fair and reasonable to the parties, avoiding the time and expense of protracted litigation in the courts.
