With more than 20 years of local real estate experience combined with my law degree, I can provide truly valuable insight for clients who need to navigate the legalities of real estate transactions.. I have always been intrigued with the role of an attorney as an advocate. The legal system is difficult to navigate, and I thought I could do more to assist people in a real property transaction with a law degree.   Unlike many other attorneys, I invested over twenty years in a real estate career prior to attending law school.  I am a licensed broker in both North Carolina and South Carolina.. Because of my background, I can help to set expectations of what may happen in the course of a client’s transaction. There are many things that can happen behind the scenes that we address so that our clients do not have to hassle with them.  Our goal is to make the transaction as seamless as possible.  The most rewarding part of a real property transaction is when the settlement takes place and each party is satisfied not only with what they have sold or purchased, but also what they are able to do as a result of it – some move on to build a family, some to retirement, some to develop property commercially.  No matter what a client is doing, they have a next step.  By making the real property transaction easier, I can help facilitate the next move.. I visit development and construction sites as often as I can.  If I drive by dirt and there is something going on, I am going to look at it to see what I can learn.  My broad perspective is my greatest strength as a Real Estate attorney.  My past experience gives me a firm grasp on the real estate transaction as a whole.  This offers a unique insight not only to what clients are going through during the course of the transaction, but the reasons for issues that may arise and alternative avenues to resolve them.. My husband and I have been married for twenty-three years, and we have one son, one dog, and two cats.  They are my biggest supporters, and I would not be here if not for my family.  What you do when no one is looking is the most important part of your character.  I apply this principle not only to my personal life, but to my practice of law.  My goal is to earn life-long clients.  To do that, my clients have to trust me to be their go-to resource.

I founded the Turner Law Firm, PLLC in February 07, 2013. I have been licensed to practice law in the State of North Carolina since September 2008. I started my career in preparing responses to discovery requests for major corporations in Chicago, Detroit, and Charlotte.. The southern hospitality, warm weather, and growing Charlotte market led me to become a permanent resident in 2012. I enjoy practicing real estate law including land disputes and landlord/tenant matters. I am also passionate about helping people who find themselves in anxiety-ridden situations such as those who have been facing foreclosure and those being harassed by bill collectors. I take cases throughout North Carolina. Debt defense and bankruptcy relief has led me to become licensed in all Federal Districts in North Carolina. On the family law side, I am also an advocate for fairness between the separating spouses and I protect the child’s interests and pride myself in calming the parties in dispute as opposed to creating additional tensions as other attorneys often do.. Surrounding myself with top notch talent, I continue to guide the firm to rapid growth, and past clients’ referrals are a testament to the quality of work the firm produces. Our goal is to be a multifaceted firm in many areas of law, and we continue to add talent and services for our clients’ needs.. I attended college at the University of Iowa having graduated in May 2003 with a Minor in French and Bachelor Degrees in Marketing and Asian Languages and Literature with emphasis in Mandarin Chinese. During undergraduate studies, I became interested in law through a course in business law. After undergrad I obtained a law degree from Thomas M. Cooley Law School in Lansing, Michigan.. Since arriving in North Carolina, I have volunteered for the Coalition to Unchain Dogs, the Tax Clinic of Legal Services of the Southern Piedmont, and the Council for Children’s Rights. My hobbies consist of cooking classes, trying new foods and container gardening growing tomatoes and various herbs and spices.

I began practicing law because I wanted to help people.  Working for a large law firm initially gave me exposure to different types of legal matters, but it did not provide the contact with clients that I desired.  In 2004, I opened my own practice and have thoroughly enjoyed working directly with my clients to help solve their complex legal problems.. When I first opened my practice, I was fortunate to have two senior attorneys mentor me in employment law.  They encouraged me to appeal three of my racial discrimination lawsuits to the 4th Circuit Court of Appeals, and I was hooked.  During the beginning years of my own practice, I was also fortunate to assist in the adoption of two of my nephews.  Adoption law is very near and dear to my heart, and I have no greater pleasure than to help adoptive parents and their adoptive children.. Working with clients through some of the most difficult times in their lives is rewarding to me.  Many of my clients are repeat customers, referrals, and friends.  I keep my clients fully informed of all action I take on their behalf, and return telephone calls within 24 hours.  I can be a “bulldog” when necessary, but I am to obtain the best results for my clients in all matters..
