I am a trial lawyer in the firm's litigation and intellectual property sections.  My practice is focused on intellectual property litigation, business litigation, products liability and insurance defense.  As lead trial counsel and as a part of CB&S's litigation team, I have litigated a number of trademark, copyright, patent, product liability, and business litigation cases in courts throughout the United States.. I volunteer my time as a pro bono attorney, including through Legal Aid of East Tennessee.

I am a shareholder with the law firm of Chambliss, Bahner & Stophel, P.C. in Chattanooga, Tennessee. My practice includes litigation and trial work involving issues of complex business and commercial transactions; claims under consumer protection statutes; antitrust compliance; discrimination and employment law; and intellectual property disputes. I also practice in the areas of federal and state white-collar criminal defense. My recent civil experience includes trial and litigation work in the areas of complex accounts receivable and accountings; prosecution and defense of consumer protection claims; partnership dissolution; prosecution and defense of breach of commercial lease agreements; prosecution of trade name infringement; defense of banking practices under the Uniform Commercial Code; prosecution and defense of breach of commercial lease agreements; prosecution of trade secret misappropriation; and defense of franchise termination issues. I also have recent experience in the successful defense of employers against claims of discrimination, sexual harassment, and retaliatory discharge.

David Elliott utilizes his background in mathematics to solve problems in business and financial transactions, and to provide strategic counsel and representation. He represents lenders and borrowers in multimillion-dollar transactions. He represents buyers and sellers in mergers and acquisitions, and counsels clients financing businesses and real estate, including healthcare facilities. Many of his clients are doctors and other professionals. The financial aspect of his practice includes estate planning and administration as well.. David also chairs GKH's immigration practice, and represents businesses and individuals in the U.S. and around the world with regard to immigration, business and tax issues. Through this practice and his representation of several government contractors, Mr. Elliott has a wealth of experience dealing with various governmental agencies.. David served as GKH’s Managing Partner from 2003 to 2004. He is a former member of the Chattanooga Bar Association’s Board of Governors, and a 2008 graduate of the Tennessee Bar Association Leadership Law program.. He is, and has been, involved in the Chattanooga community as the President of the Rotary Club of Chattanooga Hamilton Place 2011-2012, Treasurer and Director of Chattanooga Neighborhood Enterprise, Inc., a member of the Chattanooga Area Chamber of Commerce Workforce and Education Committee, a member of the Board of Directors and Advisory Board of La Paz Chattanooga, a Hispanic outreach nonprofit organization, and a member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church and its music committee.. David was born and raised in Cleveland, Tennessee. He and his wife, Kelley, reside in North Chattanooga with their son and two daughters. As part of the firm's litigation group, I focus my practice on commercial law and alternative dispute resolution, with a heavy emphasis on construction law. I have handled numerous disputes including lien law and an entire range of construction-related issues, including defects, delays, payment disputes, bond claims, and contract interpretation. Additionally, I frequently lecture on construction and lien law issues.
