Wes Larsen joined the James, Vernon & Weeks team in early 2011. He attended graduate school and law school at Gonzaga University, where he worked for Gonzaga's general practice law clinic, completed an externship for Spokane County Superior Court, and served as an associate editor of the Gonzaga Law Review. Before law school, Wes graduated from the University of Utah with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English, Spanish minor. He also did extensive volunteer work in Mexico and is fluent in Spanish. He is actively involved in his local community and has served as vice president of a nonprofit board. He lives with his wife and children in Spokane, Washington.

Lisa brings almost a decade of criminal defense litigation experience to the firm’s team.  She has spent the much of her career in a courtroom and advocates for and works to protect her client’s constitutional rights.  Lisa has partnered with Sean, a member of our team, on several complex criminal defense cases and teamed with Alexandria, another firm member, to work on challenging family law issues and involved family law legal proceedings.. After law school Lisa went into private practice in southern Idaho; while with her firm, Lisa practiced criminal defense law.  After a couple of years, she strategically chose to expand her legal acumen, and in 2009 Lisa became a prosecutor in North Idaho.  However, as a serious advocate for due process rights, Lisa returned to criminal defense work and became a public defender for a well-regarded public defender’s offices in the State of Idaho, the Kootenai County Public Defender’s Office.  This position required Lisa to spend an extensive amount of time in a courtroom trying both   misdemeanor and felony cases; thus, the courtroom has become a comfortable arena for her while also exponentially increasing her litigation skills.. In 2016 Lisa brought her years of experience back to the private sector and today litigates both misdemeanor and felony cases.  She has also extended her negotiation and trial skills to family law clients.  She is a valuable member of our team and is focused on our clients’ needs.. Leander James is a founding shareholder of the firm James, Vernon & Weeks, P.A. He has extensive experience in civil trial work, achieving large settlments and verdicts. He represents sexual abuse survivors, the catastrophically injured and buisness and property owners in serious disputes. Mr. James was a principal architect of the $166 million dollar Northwest Jesuit settlement that included non-monetary terms for protection of children, and his appellate cases have established precedent. His practice is state, regional and national in scope.. Mr. James is a past president of the Idaho Trial Lawyers Association and the Idaho Trial Lawyers Association Foundation, Inc. He is an appointed Chair on the Idaho State Bar Professional Conduct Board. In 2011 the Bar awarded Mr. James its Service Award for his public service.. Mr. James graduated from the University of Santa Clara in 1983 with a B.A. in English, emphasis in writing. Jillian Caires is a native of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho where she graduated from Lake City High School in 2004.  Jillian attended Washington State University, graduating in 2006 with a bachelor’s degree in political science. In 2010, Jillian began law school at Gonzaga University School of Law. Jillian earned her Juris Doctorate degree from Gonzaga in 2012, magna cum laude. In law school Jillian was a member of the Mugel National Tax Moot Court Team and the Gonzaga Journal of International Law; Jillian was awarded the top grade in Legal Research and Writing, Estate Planning, Community Property, Criminal Procedure, and Animal Law.. Following law school, Jillian served two years serving as law clerk to the Honorable Benjamin Simpson, District Judge, First Judicial District of the State of Idaho.
