After eight years with the National Weather Service, working major floods and serving on Governor Committees, Martha resigned to become a Mathematics Teacher at Coeur d'Alene High School.. She taught Math for fifteen years there while also serving as Department Chair and a Board Member for the Idaho Council of Teachers of Mathematics. Martha taught classes to teachers for the University of Idaho and published a book called Calculost? A Guide To First Semester Calculus.. She won the Presidential Award for Excellence In Mathematics and Science Teaching from the National Science Foundation, for the state of Idaho and was honored at the White House.. Martha then attended Gonzaga University and earned her Juris Doctorate in Law.
