Why did you decide to become a lawyer?. As a former death investigator, I frequently saw the devastating consequences of careless behavior. Too often, victims' families had no idea that medical mistakes were made or how to proceed. The more I saw this, the more I wanted to help families seek justice.. What did you do before you were a lawyer?. I was trained in forensic anthropology, which is the field that applies knowledge of human skeletal traits to legal questions. For instance, I learned how to determine the sex, age, and ancestry of skeletal remains.. I applied this training first as a deputy coroner in South Carolina, then as an investigator at the medical examiner's office in Austin, Texas. In these positions, I learned how to ask questions in interviews, how to scrutinize medical records, and how law enforcement officers approach cases.. What are your personal interests?. As the married father of three young children, most of my "free" time I spend with my family. I am a leader in my son's Boy Scout troop, where I have the opportunity to help boys learn and demonstrate the core values of Scouting.

When you face a challenging legal problem, you need an attorney who can explain your legal options, devise a plan to meet your goals, and execute the plan. That's what I do every day. The same attorney you talk to on the phone is usually the same attorney you see in court. I don't have other attorneys in my office who I send out, and I don't have paralegals answering your calls who lack the experience and knowledge of an attorney. If you've been injured and you feel someone caused it, call me. An injury could come from: a car accident, getting hurt at work, a birth defect caused by a doctor (or nurse, hospital, anesthesiologist), a misdiagnosis of a terminal condition, a slip-and-fall at a grocery store, or any other scenario where someone's carelessness led to an injury. If you face a criminal charge, your liberty is at stake. You need to speak to an attorney at once -- as soon as you're charge with a crime, work on your case must begin. Your case doesn't start on the day of the trial, and you should not wait until days before the trial to call an attorney. Hiring an attorney to fight your traffic ticket is a smart investment. I have a history of getting charges dismissed, or at least getting probation (keeping the points off), which help keep insurance rates low and your license valid. I handle payable charges (meaning that you can pay the ticket without going to court) , and jailable citations such as DUI, DWI, Suspended License, etc. I routinely get Suspended License violations, and most clients see up to three or four variations of Suspended License charges. Usually, the client will have or or two other charges, too. Don't worry, I know how to handle that and make you walk out of court thanking yourself for hiring me. Generally, a ticket must be answered within 30 days of being issued. If you plan to fight your ticket, do not pay it because the courts will accept your payment as a Guilty plea. Maryland no longer issues a hearing date automatically; one must be requested. Have an FTA, FTC Suspension, or bench warrant? Call me. I fix FTAs, suspensions, and bench warrants. Have a CDL? You found the right attorney. I routinely handle logbook violations, non-English speaking charges, overweight charges, and other common charges written by State Troopers and inspectors at weigh stations. I have literally saved drivers their jobs by avoiding convictions. Were you pulled over of federal land, which includes part of the BW Parkway, Fort Meade, Aberdeen Proving Ground, among others? You need an attorney licensed in federal court. I'm your guy. Most traffic attorneys are not licensed in federal court. Do you have a closed citation which gave you points? In some circumstances, I can convince the Court to re-open the case, assign a hearing date, and usually get a better outcome than you would have had if you didn't re-open the case. Generally, a ticket must be answered within 30 days of being issued. If you plan to fight your ticket, do not pay it because the courts will accept your payment as a Guilty plea. Maryland no longer issues a hearing date automatically; one must be requested. I also handle bankruptcy cases. You can usually keep your car, which many clients ask. You can usually discharge many common bills including medical, credit card, and landlord debts. My office locations: Columbia: 9520 Berger Road, Suite 212. Zip: 21046 Hunt Valley: 201 International Circle, Suite 230. Zip: 21030 Call me at.
When I was in Kindergarten, the little boys would always ask, "Will you marry me?" At five years old, my response was always, "No, because I'm going to college, and I am going to be a lawyer." Being an attorney has always been my calling. As I've aged, this has become more and more apparent. Prior to working at a personal injury firm, I was an insurance defense attorney. Working with my clients is so much more fulfilling because I know that every day I am making a difference in someone's life. Clients hate for their files to remain stagnant, so my goal is to always move the cases as quickly as possible and to ensure my clients know that their case is important to me.. Any result our firm may achieve on behalf of one client in one matter does not necessarily indicate similar results can be obtained for other clients.
What is it like working with you?. I am easy to get in contact with and always diligent in returning my calls. I make sure my clients are comfortable reaching out to me about any problem they encounter, and I always try to get them the best answer I can. Sometimes my answer may be, “I don’t know, but I will find out!” And I always do.. I strive to be a good listener. If my clients have something to say, I listen. Listening is one of the most important aspects of good communication.. Do you have experience doing exactly what I need?. I have experience in many areas of law. The focus of my firm is to provide goal-oriented representation in the areas of personal injury and workers’ compensation. What I mean by “goal-oriented” is that I strive to achieve the goal my client is setting out to reach, and it can be different for every client. I do this by putting my client’s best interest above all things.. Approximately how many cases have you handled?. I have handled countless cases in various areas of the law which gives me a unique global perspective when dealing with an injured party’s legal, medical and financial concerns. When someone is injured, it’s not just their medical issue that is troubling them. Issues like the ability to work, the ability to pay a mortgage, or other financial decisions can become unbearable. An attorney needs to listen carefully so they can recognize a client’s needs.

Victor Li is a native of the Pee Dee. He grew up in Cheraw, South Carolina and attended Cheraw High School until his sophomore year when he was accepted to the South Carolina Governor’s School for Science and Mathematics. Victor is an avid gamer and enjoys competing in Scrabble, Poker and Chess.. Victor graduated from Clemson University in 1999 with a B.S. in Chemistry and from there attended the University of South Carolina School of Law. After graduating from law school in 2003, Victor postponed taking the bar in pursuit of opening Northstar Learning Center, a tutoring center focused on helping underprivileged children in the Midlands.. In 2008, Victor began his legal career in the Fifth Judicial Circuit working as a prosecutor for then Solicitor Barney Giese. Although Victor was grateful for his first opportunity to practice law in the State of South Carolina, he quickly realized that his passion was defending and helping the people in his community. Since 2009, Victor has been protecting and defending the constitutional rights of those who are accused of drug charges, DUI, and other violent crimes.. “I believe that honesty and transparency are the best ways to cultivate a strong attorney-client relationship. Once you have retained me for the entirety of your case, you will be provided with my personal cell phone number to ensure easy and direct communication between client and attorney, not between office staff and client.”. In 2014, Victor was instrumental in reforming the City of Columbia Police Department’s drug lab. He effectively challenged the drug analysis of the department’s drug chemist by showing that the reported drug weight was grossly exaggerated. Because of his work, not only was his client protected from false prosecution, but so were hundreds of other defendants who would have been victims of shoddy police work.. Victor believes in his clients and bases his practice on a client-centric perspective.
