Thomas M. Rickart is a Connecticut attorney who was admitted to practice in 1981. He specializes in commercial transactions involving real estate and businesses. Tom has extensive experience representing and advising lenders and borrowers in commercial, asset-based, and mortgage loan transactions, as well as in loan workout situations. He has been involved in all aspects of real estate development, commencing with acquisitions, including contract negotiation, due diligence, financing, and the formation of corporations, limited liability companies, and partnerships. He regularly represents developers, from the permitting and approval process through the development process, including formation of condominiums and other common interest ownership communities. Tom also represents clients in all aspects of environmental law related to land use, conveyances, and financing. Finally, he assists clients with the management and/or sale of projects, preparing and negotiating contracts, leases and every type of commercial loan documentation.

I started my career as a legal assistant in a law firm that practiced in the areas of estate planning, elder law and probate. I continued with that firm through law school and for a few years following graduation. The experience I obtained through my employment at that law firm is extremely valuable since it gave me a different perspective of these practice areas.  I have had hands-on experience in these practice areas for 20+ years and have had the honor of working with families both through the eyes of a legal assistant and as an attorney.  I refer to my legal assistant experience as "behind the scenes" experience.  I have felt the pain with my clients, shared the joys with my clients, and helped them to achieve their goals.  I feel the utmost satisfaction and joy working with my clients.  Currently, I am pursuing my Master of Law in taxation at Boston University School of Law to further my tax knowledge.

Attorney Americo S. Ventura founded the law firm of Ventura, Ribeiro & Smith in 1957. He was recently honored by the Connecticut Bar Association for 50 years of service in the legal field. He was also honored by the Portuguese Bar Association of CT for his 50 Years of Service to the Community, where he was presented with a Proclamation by Connecticut Attorney General Richard Blumenthal. Attorney Ventura was one of the founding members of the Portuguese Bar Association of CT and currently holds the position of President.. Attorney Ventura was born in Danbury, CT to Portuguese immigrants coming from the Northeastern part of Portugal. He was a member of both the Sons of Portugal and Portuguese American Clubs and is a member of the successor of both clubs, the Portuguese Cultural Center, in Danbury and is responsible for the library at the Center. He is a founding member of the Sons of Portugal Scholarship Fund and is also one of the five original founders of the Immaculate Heart of Mary RC Church (1981).

Antonio Fernandes joined Ventura Law as an attorney in 2015. He had been an intern at our firm in the years leading up to his legal education. He graduated Cum Laude from Western Connecticut State University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration. In 2013, he earned his law degree from New York Law School..
