Kate specializes in high asset divorces and separations and high conflict parenting disputes, including cases involving mental health issues, domestic violence, and substance abuse. She primarily practices in divorces, separations, allocation of parental responsibility actions (“custody”), post-decree child support and/or maintenance modifications, parenting time disputes, high asset divorces, complicated financial matters, grandparent visitation cases, juvenile matters, paternity actions, and protection orders. Kate is also a mediator, parenting coordinator and decision maker.. Kate is both an advocate and a counselor to her clients, and will connect her clients to the right team of financial planners, therapists, and experts needed to facilitate the special needs of their cases. To that end, Kate has served as the Treasurer, Secretary and is currently the Vice President of the Metro Denver Interdisciplinary Committee (MDIC), an organization of mental health professionals and family law attorneys who meet each month to discuss and educate one another about the overlap between the professions.. Kate has experience in numerous Colorado courts including Denver, Douglas, Arapahoe, Adams, Jefferson, Pueblo, Washington, Broomfield, Boulder, El Paso, Summit, Pitkin, Grand and Larimer counties.
Kate Miller is a Family Law Attorney at Miller Family Law, LLC. As someone who has lived many of the issues involved in divorce and child custody, Kate is passionate about helping you through this process. Kate believes that divorce does not have to destroy lives. She wants to help clients navigate this process as amicably as possible so that they may begin the healing process.. Kate earned her undergraduate degree at Texas A&M University in Political Science and Psychology. Later she moved to Colorado and earned her Juris Doctorate from the University of Denver Sturm College of Law in 2013. While a student attorney at the advanced civil litigation clinic at the University of Denver Sturm College of Law, Kate argued in front of the Colorado Supreme Court.. Prior to founding Miller Family Law, LLC, Kate worked as a Law Fellow for the Honorable Angela R. Arkin, and the Honorable Michael J. Spear, Douglas County’s lead judges handling Family Law matters. Because of her work with the courts, she has excellent connections in the legal community. She is a member of the Colorado Bar Association and the Denver Bar Association, with special membership to the Family Law and Litigation sections. Kate is also a member of Colorado Judicial Institute (CJI) and Metro Denver Interdiciplinary Comittee (MDIC).
