My legal journey has provided me with the power of empathy, work-life balance, and a compassionate approach to my clients needs.. When most people meet me, they are surprised to hear that I’m an attorney. My sense of humor and my ability to show empathy are my superpowers and make me approachable and down to earth.. I’m a proud member of the Maryland State Bar Association. My last two jobs in the legal field were Washington, D.C. Prosecutor, and a Frederick County Maryland Assistant States Attorney. It was a real struggle to find a work-life balance with demanding jobs and a daughter at home.. After a brief stint in real estate, I came to work part-time at Frame & Frame in January 2019, taking a support role at the firm. The talented group of women that I work with is impressive! When they offered me a full-time position as an attorney, I knew right away that I was made for this job and this type of law would fulfill my purpose.. After seeing so much unexpected loss in my circle of friends and family, I was keenly aware of my need to serve in the area of estate planning, elder law, guardianship, and probate. These are all different parts of the same picture; interrelated, but completely separate. It is gratifying to make a difference in someone’s life, especially during a difficult time.. Many people put off estate planning until they are in their “golden years,” but that can leave our loved ones unprepared for the difficulties and expenses that occur, during a crisis. Young families with children especially need to have a plan to raise their kids if something should happen to them. We help take the weight off our client’s shoulders by the time they leave our office. That is truly rewarding.. In my personal life, I enjoy family time with my husband and daughter. I’m passionate about photography and love to travel. Being outdoors with our family fur baby, a golden retriever named Lucky, is a favorite activity and loads of fun!. I’m grateful for the newfound work-life balance I have and feel happy to have the opportunity to help people in this position with Frame & Frame. It’s almost more of a calling than a job. Knowing that people have a plan in place brings my clients peace of mind and helps me sleep better at night.. I would love to meet with you or your loved ones and review your estate plan. If you or any one of your friends and family need help with estate planning, elder law, probate, or guardianship, please let me know. I can explain the legal process in plain language and develop a plan to set their mind at ease.. the power of empathy, work-life balance, and a compassionate approach to my clients needs.

I have over 26 years experience in both DUI/DWI prosecution and defense, including many alcohol-related manslaughter cases. I work hard to make sure that all possible defenses are explored. I'm not a stranger to the Courtroom and have extensive Court and Jury Trial experience. I am especially adept in resolving repeat offender cases where the client is facing a lot of jail time.. I believe that it is important to treat my clients the way I would want to be treated. I am not just a number or a name on a docket and neither are my clients. Like me, they have families and jobs and homes, and they need to put this chapter of their lives behind them and return to their lives. As their lawyer, it's my job to help them do that as efficiently and painlessly as possible. That means I'm available when they have questions about their cases - not just between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m Monday through Friday, like many lawyers. My clients can contact me any time they need information about their case.
I have been practicing law in Central Maryland, where I was born and raised, since 1998, leaving the law firm practice briefly to serve as general counsel and manager for a mid-size business in the construction industry. Beyond business litigation and general counsel experience, I have a background in legislation and public policy that I have relied upon to represent clients in regulatory and legislative matters, including First Amendment issues, planning and zoning, and education. The father of a special needs daughter, I take advantage of opportunities and forums that allow me to advocate to enhance the opportunties for disabled children.
I have been practicing family law for over 40 years, and have helped over 3,000 people through this often difficult process. I handle all aspects of separation and divorce, including mediation, negotiations and litigation of simple and complex cases. I work on child custody, visitation and child support cases, divorces involving significant marital assets and division of property and pensions, alimony, and even pet visitation. My approach is to work hard to solve your problems, but not necessarily to "punish" the other side. I want you to finish the process knowing that the outcome was "fair" and you dealt with things "honorably".. My hourly rates are at the high end for Frederick County, because of my experience and reputation. However, I also rely on less expensive associate attorneys (with "only" 5 - 7 years of experience) to "build" your case while I serve as the "architect" doing the planning and strategic work that my experience and knowledge bring to the table. The bottom line is that my final bill is ususally much lower than the other attorney's is, even though they may charge less per hour than I do.
I have been in private practice concentrating in criminal defense and personal injury cases since 1972.
I graduated from the University of Virginia in 1980 with a degree in English. I then went to Chicago to attend Northwestern University Law School and the J.L. Kellogg Graduate School of Management. While in law school, I was on the Editorial Board of the Journal of International Law and Business. I graduated from business school with a degree in finance.
I am a solo practioner in Frederick, Maryland. I do practice in other courts in the State of Maryland. My practice areas are Family Law, Divorce, Custody, Personal Injury, Auto Crashes, Workers Compensation, Criminal Defense, DUI, DWI, Bankruptcy for Chapter 7 and 13. If you have a legal issue, please call me to discuss.
I am a Partner at Campen & Manganaro in Urbana, MD. Our primary practice area is Personal Injury. Working primarily with clients who have suffered great losses, I feel it is important for me to take it slow and listen. I like to be thorough gathering information up front, so that I can understand the facts and damages of a case from the very beginning. It is my objective to set realistic expectations and guide my clients through the process every step of the way. I work hard to get my clients everything they deserve, and will accept no less.

All I do is family law, all day, every day. It's what I've done exclusively for over 20 years. Every family law attorney is a little bit different; choosing an attorney is intensely personal. You should be certain your attorney's personality and philosophy of family law are consistent with yours. At one point in my life, I was where you are now. When I divorced, I gave up a lot in the hope that my ex-husband and I would be able to move forward and co-parent our two children effectively in two households. Unfortunately, that was not to be. My ex-husband had no real interest in working with me as a co-parent. When the opportunity arose for us to resolve a difficult issue regarding our children, he chose to file in court rather than work with me.As a client, what I learned was that the court is not a good place for families. Judges don't care about your children. Heck, they don't even remember you once you leave their courtroom; I later appeared as an attorney before the judge who heard my case and I also delivered my annual holiday cookies to him, and he had no memory that he had seen me before or heard my case. My first attorney treated me as if I knew nothing and didn't care what I wanted for my family. My second attorney represented me ably and recognized that it was my life and I should be a partner in the decisions affecting me and my family. My case finally settled, but not before causing damage from that first hearing, the first attorney and to my child's mental health. I wish I could say my case was unusual, but it wasn't. It convinced me more than anything else that the courtroom should be the last resort for a family dispute. My philosophy is simple: it's not my life; it's yours. My job is to make sure that two things happen: first, that you clarify your vision for your life, post divorce or custody case; and second, that you choose the right process for your vision to become a reality. What that means for you is that we work together as a team, sharing information, brainstorming and problem solving. I provide you support, information and help you advocate for yourself and your family even as I am advocating for you. I help you decide whether mediation, collaborative divorce, traditional negotiation or litigation are the correct process for you and your family; and I support and guide you through whatever process you choose as right for you. You are never alone. I care what happens to you and your family.
