J.R. was born and raised in Grand Junction. He graduated from Fruita Monument High School and then attended the University of Denver. He graduated with two degrees – one in Public Policy and one in Finance. While in college, J.R. worked as a legal assistant at a law firm in Denver to make sure he wanted to invest in a legal education. After deciding that law was a good fit, J.R. then went to the University of the Pacific’s McGeorge School of Law.. After graduating law school, J.R. returned to his roots in the Grand Valley. Over the last 10 years, J.R. has spent a lot of time in the courtroom. He spent 15 months as a prosecutor at the Mesa County District Attorney’s office and then started his private practice in 2011. In the last 10 years, J.R. has gone to trial over 30 times.

I am a Colorado native and grew up in Mancos near the Four Corners. I went on to receive my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, with a concentration in Counseling Psychology and a minor in Sociology from Mesa State College in 2000. I then received my Juris Doctorate in 2003 from the University of Nebraska, College of Law. Following graduation from Law School, I moved with my husband to Austin Texas, where I became a licensed attorney in the fall of 2003. During that same time, I became a new mom and chose to stay home with my first son. In early 2005 our family moved back to Colorado to help with a church plant in the Denver area. I then obtained my Colorado Legal License. In 2006, I began working as a Weld County Deputy District Attorney for the 19th Judicial District in Greeley, Colorado. Our family then moved back to the Grand Junction area and I continued my work for several years as a Mesa County Deputy District Attorney. As a Deputy District Attorney, I prosecuted both misdemeanor and felony level cases. However, most of my career as a prosecutor was spent handling the juvenile criminal docket. I felt it was important to help get the kids back on track through services, education, and appropriate consequences so that they could avoid making similar mistakes as adults. I am a member of the Colorado Bar Association and the Mesa County Bar Association. I am focusing my current legal practice on providing legal services for Estate Planning, Trusts, Probate, and adoption. I am also contracted as the City of Fruita Municipal Prosecutor.  I am dedicated to giving my clients competent and compassionate assistance in planning for their futures and the future of their loved one’s.

Chris regularly handles civil matters in state and federal courts in Colorado and Utah. His areas of emphasis include representing business and individual clients with natural resource, commercial, and real property disputes. Chris also represents government and private clients in matters involving municipal law, zoning, and land use issues.. In addition, Chris regularly represents business entities with construction-related disputes. His practice includes advising clients on contract negotiation and representation in business transactions. Chris serves as City Attorney for the City of Moab, Utah, and as general counsel for the Grand Valley Drainage District in Western Colorado.

Chris Mahre grew up in farm country in central Washington State where his parents grew Concord grapes, mint, and raised beef cattle. He went on to receive his Bachelor of Science degree from Oregon State University in 1986 and a Juris Doctorate from Seattle University School of Law in 1990. In Washington, Chris served as a Deputy Prosecuting Attorney for eight years and was a candidate for District Attorney and State Representative. Chris entered private practice in Washington, and after operating his own solo law practice for three years, moved to Grand Junction, Colorado in 2001 with his wife and two boys.. In Colorado, Chris has focused on building a thriving legal practice, bringing on two associate attorneys to provide a wide array of legal services. Barbara enjoys meeting people and working on a wide variety of legal issues, including probate, estate planning, civil litigation, real estate transactions and business formation. During law school, Barbara served as Editor-in-Chief for the Arizona Law Review and touched off a life-long love for critical reading. During her year at the Court of Appeals, Barbara had the honor of clerking for the now-retired Honorable Jose D.L. Marquez, a former Mesa County District Court Judge and wonderful human being. While building her practice, Barbara successfully defended her client's judgment at the Colorado Supreme Court.  She has effectively represented clients across Colorado and from as far away as England and Australia. Barbara presented oral argument before the Colorado Court of Appeals and the Colorado Supreme Court. Annie is a partner at Dufford, Waldeck, Milburn & Krohn.  She is originally from Milwaukee, Wisconsin and earned her law degree at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City.  Her law practice is concentrated in the areas of real estate, estate planning/probate, guardianships and conservatorships, construction, and civil litigation.  Annie is a trial lawyer and also assists clients outside of court with drafting leases, deeds, property management contracts, real estate purchase contracts, wills, trusts, powers of attorney, promissory notes, deeds of trust, and construction contracts.
