I was a law clerk for a District Court Judge for three years, then in private practice for 31 years. I began in criminal defense work, then added personal injury to my expertise. Over the years I have been a teacher of paralegals and I have regularly spoken at seminars for the legal community. For the past several years I have worked exclusively in family law with an emphasis on divorce, children and post-decree modifications.. I am married with four children. I am originally from Nebraska, but moved to Denver in 1972. I have published many articles and I have written one book on civil litigation. I started my career as a deputy district attorney in the 18th judicial district (Arapahoe County and Douglas County).  During my time with that office, I litigated hundreds if not thousands of misdemeanor and felony cases.  I learned under some of the best prosecutors in Colorado and obtained a wealth of experience in trying cases of all types to a jury.. After gaining significant experience as a district attorney, I decided to take the next step by moving into private practice where I accepted a position at one of the top tax litigation firms in the nation.  For a little over one year, I worked on: sensitive audits of individual taxpayers and businesses, appeals to the Internal Revenue Service, cases before the United States Tax Court, voluntary disclosures, and criminal tax cases..
