I have been practicing family law in Utah since the year 2000.  I moved here from Washington D.C. after graduating from Georgetown Law, doing a juvenile criminal defense clinic,  receiving a mediation certificate, and working for HUD, The Nature Conservancy, and 3 law firms.  In 2004, I started my own firm and expanded to have a number of associate attorneys.  We are a boutique firm focusing entirely on family-related disputes: divorces, paternity actions, adoptions, custody, child support, grandparent-rights, prenuptial and post-nuptial agreements, estate planning, trust creation, contested probate cases, and small business contract writing and legal assistance. I grew up in Salt Lake County, Utah and went to the University of Utah for my undergraduate studies. I attended graduate school and law school at St. Mary’s University.. Prior to working at Head Law, I worked at a prestigious litigation law firm—working primarily in personal injury, employment, and family law litigation—in Salt Lake County, Utah. I also previously worked at a prestigious criminal defense firm in Salt Lake County, Utah, and at a legal clinic in San Antonio, Texas performing legal services for indigent members of the community.. I have also acted as a chairperson for medical malpractice prelitigation panels for the Utah Division of Occupational and Professional Licensing. In Utah, medical malpractice claimants are required to appear and present their cases before the prelitigation panels prior to filing their cases in the Utah district courts. As a chairperson, I have conducted the panels, evaluated the cases with the other panel members, issued decisions for each case, and drafted panel opinions.. When I am not working, I enjoy spending time with my wife and family, painting, writing, and watching mixed martial arts.

Emily grew up in Sugarhouse in Salt Lake City. She has always enjoyed working with people.  During college she taught dance to children, was a substitute teacher in the Salt Lake City School District and operated her own greeting card company. She has also worked as a law clerk at her mother’s estate planning firm and her father’s intellectual property firm. She worked in the KSL Television newsroom as a producer for the public affairs program "Sunday Edition with Bruce Lindsay" and as an assignment editor.  Emily teaches ballet to children in the University of Utah's Tanner Dance Program. She was a volunteer with the Court Visitor Program in 3rd District Court.She met her husband while working at KSL. They love living in Holladay and have two children.
