She worked in the KSL Television newsroom as a producer for the public affairs program "Sunday Edition with Bruce Lindsay" and as an assignment editor. Emily teaches ballet to children in the University of Utah's Tanner Dance Program. She was a volunteer with the Court Visitor Program in 3rd District Court.She met her husband while working at KSL.
