When I graduated from law school, I was honored to be chosen as a judicial law clerk for Judge James P. Smith. In Judge Smith's court, I had a front row seat to many of the best trial lawyers in North Alabama. I watched those great lawyers fight hard for their clients. It didn't take long for me to decide I wanted to be a lawyer who fights hard for my client, and who doesn't back down from a trial. My mentor, Bud Watson, gave me my opportunity once my one-year judicial clerkship ended. Since then, I have devoted my law practice to cases involving severe and debilitating personal injuries, substantial damages, and wrongful death. For 15 years, I have successfully argued cases to verdict in many Alabama counties, and Federal courts.

After graduating from law school in 1992, I joined my father and my current partner, former Judge S.A. (Bud)Watson in their practice. Both have been fantastic mentors and are passionate about preparing every single client’s case as though we were going to present it to a jury.. Today, our team continues the tradition of excellence in preparation. We leave no stone unturned, often asking one another, "What haven't we yet considered?" By approaching each case in this manner, we have earned a reputation with insurance companies and opposing counsel which bodes well for our clients. While some cases are appropriately settled outside of court on behalf of a client, opposing lawyers and insurance companies know we're always ready to go to trial.. Our firm operates on a team concept. Each lawyer uses their best skill sets to contribute to each case. By operating as a team, we capitalize on the strengths of each lawyer. We also have the ability to review each case from several points of view.. Our firm handles very serious injury cases including brain injury, spinal cord injury, nursing home abuse, tractor-trailer accidents & other motor vehicle accidents. We're often asked if we only handle serious injury cases. We encourage potential clients to contact us so we can determine the magnitude of your case. Often, our clients are unaware of the long term impact of their injuries and may be underestimating the value of their case. There is no charge for this evaluation..
