You deserve a counselor who listens and actually hears; a teacher who transforms complexity into clarity; a general who wields forces deftly; a diplomat who elicits common purpose; and a warrior who fights like a Spartan. And you deserve a friend who protects and comforts along the way. A trial attorney must be each of these.. A little about me…. I attended school in the Highline School District. After graduating from Tyee High School, I earned an undergraduate degree from Duke University, a graduate degree from Georgetown University, and a law degree from the University of Washington. I was admitted into the Washington State Bar in 1995. Since then, I have worked as a litigator. In 2003, I founded The Barton Law Firm to fight for people cheated and abused by employers. In 2014, The Gerry Spence Trial Lawyers College ("TLC") admitted me. I refined my trial skills at TLC's twenty-four-day intensive trial-training course on Gerry’s ranch in Wyoming, and I continue refining those skills as an active member of the local TLC group.. I am committed to fighting for my client's justice. There was a time when my family needed that commitment.

Some of my most rewarding memories come from working to help my children and others like them in our community have the chance for a good education. So, I tried to contribute where I felt I could do the most good.  For 11 years I was a member of the Snoqualmie Valley School Board and served two terms as president. The Board decides matters of policy for the School District. In those years we had an annual budget of between $30,000,000 and $40,000,000 with over 400 employees and serving 4,500 students. Our Board was recognized as the best in the State of Washington for its size of district (2001) by the Washington State School Directors Association. The Board was recognized nationally as one of 25 of the best Boards by the official publication of the National School Boards Association (2002), for work in technology. (See photo for 2002 award).  We were also honored by proclamations of the state legislature and King County Council.. I have also enjoyed a number of fun years as a soccer coach, basball coach, chess tournament host, and cub scout leader.. These days I enjoy sailing, fly fishing and bicycle riding.

I'm a 39 year old father of one living in the Bellevue area.  I married my college sweetheart and she stuck with me through law school.  When not in the courtroom, I enjoy the outdoors, often fishing and photographing nature.  I'm usually in the courtroom or on the side of a mountain somewhere. Check out some of my photography at. I vary my practice between criminal defense and personal injury, believing that they mutually benefit each other.  One of my passions is trial work and being in a courtroom.  This is one of the reasons I love criminal defense work as it keeps me in the courtroom and out of an office.  Court and trial experience makes me a better personal injury lawyer.  I have found that many civil lawyers are "scared" of the courtroom and often you can get a better outcome on your civil case by pushing it toward a courtroom.. i have worked as a private and public defense attorney during my career.  While I started my career and love representing private clients, public defense has been a very satisfying part of my career.  Helping those that are indigent and giving them a lawyer experience they would normally have to pay thousands of dollars for is particularly rewarding.  I'm a firm believer that some of the best lawyers I know are public defense lawyers.  You are able to gain valuable trial experience making you an effective advocate for private clients.. I have handled nearly every type of criminal charge out there from Attempted Murder, sex crimes, Vehicular Homicide/Assault, VUCSA, Domestic Violence, DUI/Physical Control, and misdemeanor law.  I have extensive experience in the court helping me wade my clients through the system in the most beneficial way for them.. I started my career in personal injury and have maintained a case load during my career.  I find it challenging work helping those that have been injured at the hand of another in a negligent manner.  My court experience gives me a leg up on the competition when it comes to personal injury.  Often, taking a case to the steps of the courthouse gets my clients the best results and covers the true cost of their injuries and loss.. If you are in the need, please contact me about your case.  if you trust me to advocate on your behalf, I'll promise to do the best I can to protect you and your interests.  Thanks!

I have practiced over 30 years and during that time handled almost every type of litigation.  When I graduated from law school, I did mainly defense work on personal injury claims.  Later, I wanted to help people so I began doing work for people with claims.. I only handle litigation on behalf of persons and companies with significant life-changing claims resulting in personal injuries or property losses.  I have specialized in that practice because I know I can best represent my clients by limiting my practice to that which I excel.  This is why my firm's motto is "Specializing in Life-Changing Personal Injuries and Property Losses.". I promise to listen to your issues and, if I can help you, I will help you using all of my skills and resources to earn your trust and confidence to achieve your goals.. I am pleased to have been rated "AV" by Martindale Hubbell, its highest rating, have received the "Client's Choice" award by Avvo, and have been voted a "Super Lawyer" for several years.

I fight for people and businesses who have had their insurance claim denied, delayed, or underpaid by their insurance company.  You paid for insurance to protect your property or your life and it is not right when your claim is unreasonably denied or underpaid.  The insurance company has a team of lawyers and adjusters on their side and you should have someone fighting for you and your rights.. I am experienced at litigating insurance bad faith cases in both Washington State and Federal Courts.  My bad faith insurance practice is focused on property insurance and I handle claims involving the Insurance Fair Conduct Act (IFCA).  I have significant experience working for insurance companies in property and liability insurance but I no longer represent them.  I use my experience to represent the victims of their bad faith practices.. I was born in Auburn and grew up in Covington.  I graduated from West Point with a bachelor's degree and then served as an officer in the US Army, including an assignment at Ft. Lewis (now JBLM). After leaving the Army as a Captain, I attended and graduated from law school at Arizona State University before moving back to Washington and starting to practice law in 1991.

Firm: Law Offices of Dan Samas

Dan Samas has been an attorney since 1995, when he first began defending clients who received speeding and traffic tickets. The motorists Dan initially represented were mainly taxi drivers, whose livelihood was often at stake. He has successfully represented thousands of motorists in speeding/ traffic ticket cases. Dan believes that a contributing factor to his success as a traffic defense lawyer comes from understanding the prospective of the prosecution. On the prosecutor’s side, Dan Samas worked for both a Federal District Judge in Manhattan and the District Attorney’s office.. Unlike other speeding/ traffic defense attorneys who chose to focus on several areas of law and are sometimes spread thin, civil speeding and traffic defense is the Law Offices of Dan Samas' sole practice area. This has allowed Dan to develop a deeper understanding of traffic procedures and case law.. Dan Samas knows the importance of understanding the needs of clients and that the attorney client relationship is built on trust. In response, The Law Offices of Dan Samas offers free consultations and always charges a very reasonable flat fee for every civil speeding/ traffic case no matter how many attorney appearances are required (our clients usually do not appear in traffic court, saving them valuable time). The Law Offices of Dan Samas will fight to keep your speeding/ traffic ticket off of your DOL driving record so your insurance premiums remain in check. Dan has been selected as a Top 100 trial lawyer by National Trial Lawyers, an invitation-only organization composed of the premier trial lawyers from each state in the nation who meet stringent qualifications. Dan recently served as Chair of the Washington State Bar Association (WSBA) Rules for Appeal of Decisions of Courts of Limited Jurisdiction Subcommittee and has previously served as a member of the WSBA Infraction Rules Subcommittee (an organization that proposes statewide changes to the rules for traffic infractions). In addition to being a licensed attorney in Washington, New York, and the District of Columbia, Dan Samas earned his MBA at Purdue University and his bachelors degree in Applied Economics and Business Management from Cornell University. Firm: Law Office of Sam Elder PLLC

After working at a traditional law firm for 16 years, and after the birth of his daughter Lauren, Sam decided to transform his practice. He is committed to providing the best possible legal representation without all of the trapping of a traditional law firm. Sam and his paralegal Alisha work primarily out of their homes. He always made a lot of house calls for client meetings anyway. Working from home simply provided additional opportunities to take care of his family as well as his clients.. Sam’s practice used to consist of business litigation, tax advisory, and corporate formation practice. He found that work unrewarding, whereas representing injured persons felt right. Each case is an opportunity to help someone who is hurting, provide information and clarity, take stress out of people’s lives, and allow the healing process to be the primary focus. Insurance companies are trying to take advantage of people every day – Sam is the pushback within the system.. Sam attended Federal Way High School, Linfield college where he has bachelors of arts degrees in mathematics and philosophy, and University of Washington School of Law.. Sam’s practice currently includes personal injury claim (including car accidents, premises liability cases, medical malpractice, and chemical exposure cases), representing health care providers against insurance companies (reimbursement issues, Regence and Premera audits) or related Department of Health complaints, and some general civil litigation and advisory work (landlord-tenant disputes, contract disputes).. Sam regularly teaches his continuing legal education classes to other lawyers – both instructing on personal injury law and strategies and procedures related to personal injury litigation. His courses include: How to Litigate Your First Jury Trial, Subrogation, and Mandatory Arbitration Strategies. He brings special expertise in the application of courtroom technology to advocacy, developing innovative approaches to the cost-effective representation of his clients.. Sam works on small cases and large cases. Sam completed a ten-week jury trial in the case Bradford, et al., v. McDonnell Douglas Corporation, AlliedSignal, Inc. in King County Superior Court in which he represented twenty-six flight attendants for claims of toxic chemical exposures aircraft. He routinely tries jury cases and presents dozens of case in mandatory arbitration.
