Avvo is the last place you should look for an attorney. Attorneys can pay for additional promotion so you are more likely to find their page. Avvo also allows "client" reviews. However, Avvo refuses to remove false and defamatory reviews, as well as anonymous reviews that don’t include enough information to make an appropriate response. This is unfortunate. They also don’t offer an opt out option, so here you will find my firm information whether I want it here or not. So, what does one do to get a true and accurate evaluation of the abilities and performance of an attorney? Go to the courthouse.. The best place to find out what kind of attorney I am is to go to the Will County Court House and River Valley Justice Center. Watch me represent a client before a judge. Ask other people present questions about me and my practice. Ask the clerks. Ask my clients as they leave the court room what kind of attorney I am. Do this for any attorney you are considering hiring, for that matter.. And check out to verify that I have never been disciplined by the Attorney Registration and Disciplinary Commission. Certainly if the accusations of the two negative reviews were true the disciplinary body governing attorneys would have been interested.. Avvo doesn't do a good enough job of making that clear. Why should they?  They would rather I pay them to promote my profile. It is all about the money. Avvo also shouldn’t continue to publish defamatory statements, but they know that most attorneys don't have the time or money to engage in personal litigation. So remember these things when you are weighing the credibility of the reviews and the “service” provided by Avvo.. Thanks!
