Very early in my career as an attorney, while engaged in negotiating the terms of a very serious contract, my opposing counsel was apparently taken back, ostensibly aghast. He made this apparent by stating, "for someone who has only been admitted to practice law for a few days, you're pretty damn tenacious." I suppose that he was reaffirming several of the qualities that have long-since honed to a science, satisfying my clients (and at times) irking my family - my gumption, persistance, and neverending relentlessness.. That lawyer's observation set the tone for my career. I developed a reputation that may be most aptly described as Stephen King (a known critic of attorneys) once wrote, "an attorney with sharp teeth, and preferably a taste for human blood." I admit that I haven't ever drawn blood, but I like the metaphor for my effectively aggressive, unorthodo, and zealous advocacy, which I have routinely employed on a daily basis, for each of my client, for over ten years. With all candor, I aim to separate myself from the lawyers that are so often the butt of so many old jokes (not to mention the caricature of the many imagianary lawyers conjured by the great King). I have been told that I'm much easier to speak to than many other attorneys. I have been told that I "don't look like a lawyer." I have been told by experienced people that I'm the best lawyer that they have ever known; and I have been threatened with contempt of court only twice. I believe that principle trumps procedure and that there's a good argument that the entirety of common law is one big legal fiction. Above all, I aim to solve problems. In keeping therewith, I believe that candid communication is elementary in every case, as essential to building trust between attorneys and clients as between married couples.. As indicated by my work over the course of my career, I constantly strive to build and maintain trust, while always providing the best possible legal representation for each and every single one of my clients. I have been very successful in doing so - persistently achieving excellent results across the board, from cases involving punk rock shows at Tompkins Square Park and the Constitutional rights that make such events possibl, to multi-million dollar contracts, to cases of alleged homicide.. One of the most important facets of my practice is to ensure the peace of mind of every person who humbly seeks my counsel. I want you to be able to sleep at night. It actually matters to me. The better you sleep, the better I sleep. Your problems become my problems merely by virtue of the business that I have nurished and constructed. Take that weight off of your shoulders and leave it with me. I'll use that weight to build momentum and fight for the best solution to your case. That's my job. And I'll never lie to you.. Thanks for your interest in my practice. Please don't hesitate to give me a call to discuss your legal issues or to set up a free consultation at your convenience. (I don't actually bite).
Sean was born in Spanish Harlem, son of Irish immigrants, in 1968. He grew up in Queens County in a strict Catholic Irish household. His father was a union carpenter while his mother was an assistant teacher. Along with his younger brother and younger twin sisters, his family grew up believing education, family, faith, and service to others were the keys to a good life.. Sean graduated St. Francis Prep High School in Queens in 1986, and then went on to graduate Fordham University in the Bronx in 1990.. After college, Sean held many different jobs while debating whether or not to attend law school, He was a union carpenter in Manhattan. He swung a hammer framining houses in Long Island. He worked security at St. Patrick's Cathedral. But Sean knew he wanted more out of life.. in 1992, Sean began serving the residents of Queens County as an Emergency Medical Technician based out of Jamaica Hospital in Richmond Hill, Queens. Sean earned many citations for bravery and life saving calls. Although the job was incredibly rewarding, while working in EMS, Sean decided to attend law school.. Sean completed his first year of law school at Brooklyn Law School in 1996. He then transfered to St. John's Law School, and graduated in 1998. All during law school, Sean continued to work on the ambulance in Queens, nights and weekends.. Upon graduating law school, Sean began his legal career as an Assistant District Attorney, for the Queens County District Attorney's Office. After four years as an Assistant DA for Queens County, Sean decided to begin his own law practice. Starting out with no clients, and no resources, he borrowed a small amount of money from his dad, bought a computer, rented a small office, and printed some business cards. Overnight, Sean literally went from prosecuting people and putting them in jail, to defending people and getting them out of jail.. Over the past fifteen years, Sean has gone on to build a large and growing criminal defense litigation practice. Sean defends hundreds of people every year, accussed of minor misdemeanor offenses up to serious felony cases. He handles many domestic violence cases and even more drunk driving cases. He does everything he can to resolve cases without the need to go to trial, but at the same time, he will not hesitate to pick a jury and follow through to trial.. Sean lives in Long Island with his wife of twenty years, and three teenage children. He literally works seven days a week in court or in his office, and he is available 24/7 for your call. Any spare time he may have, he enjoys his motorcycle..
