He has always had a strong sense of the law. His father was Sheriff of the county and his grandfather was a Missouri State Representative; he deeply wanted to follow in their footsteps. At a young age, Shanon knew he was bigger than what this country city had to offer; he became determined to leave and to create his own destiny. Shanon likes to say that he was a "late bloomer" when others inquire on why he attended law school at the late age of 27. My first experience with an attorney was a number of years ago when I was getting divorced (before I attended law school). I am adept at articulating the winning argument, but am also careful to advise my client of the risks involved before proceeding. I usually try to work out a settlement to save my client the expense and emotional turmoil of trial, but if I believe the other side is not willing to negotiate in good faith, or is making unreasonable demands, I will fight tooth and nail for my client in court. In turn, I will tell my client if I believe he or she is being unrealistic or unreasonable or is at risk of having the judge order them to pay the other side's attorney fees. I have a relatively low hourly rate, given my many years of experience.
