I'm a native Nevadan. I have the ability to provide great representation to clients in a wide range of legal matters in a variety of different courts.  I have developed those skills from having a diverse history in various legal fields in starting with ciminal capital cases to representing debtors in chapter 7, 13 and 11 bankruptcies, to handling complex domestic cases involving large assets and children, to finally narrowing the practice to primarily personal injury, construction and business.  I founded and have manged my own law firm for over 26 years until I merged my practice with several different law firms both locally, regionally and nationally. After seven years of working in larger firms and learning from them I have decided to return to my own small boutique practice where I can work more closely with my clients and friends.  I have an active role in the community from serving as the chairman of the Henderson Planning Commission to coaching and refereeing soccer teams.  I also provide many hours of pro bono work and serve as a committee member for the Anthem County Club.

I was born, raised and went to college in the Bay Area. I earned my undergraduate business management degree from Menlo College in Atherton, California. The summer following graduation from Menlo College, I spent the summer on the East Coast volunteering for a non-profit organization dedicated to helping families affected by children with cancer called Time for Life. Following that summer, I attended Loyola University Chicago School of Law, from which I earned my law degree in 2005.. While in law school, I served as a law clerk for an insurance defense firm, Mordini & Schwartz,  judicial extern for the Bankruptcy court for the Northern District of California, a real estate analyst for American Express Tax and Business Services, and student editor of the Loyola University Chicago Consumer Law Review. These experiences exposed me to litigation, bankruptcy issues and commercial retail leases.. Following law school, I took and passed the Illinois bar. In September of 2005, I moved to Las Vegas to accept a position as an attorney in the Business Department of Lionel Sawyer & Collins. I have been here ever since.. I enjoy representing clients in business transactions. I work hard to be efficient and responsive, raise the legal issues in a deal and step out of the way to allow the clients to make their business decisions.

I was born on September 20, 1972 inChicago, Illinois and moved to Las Vegas with my family at the age of 11. Aftergraduation from Bonanza High School, I immediately enlisted with the NevadaArmy and completed a tour of duty in the Middle East during Operation DesertShield and Desert Storm as a Military Police Officer. During my service, Iprimarily guarded and escorted enemy prisoners of war, for which I received anumber of commendations and medals including the Southwest Asia Service Medalwith two Bronze Service Stars, the National Defense Service Medal, theSouthwest Asia Campaign Medal, the Kuwait Liberation Award, the Nevada StateCommendation Medal, and the Governor's Outstanding Unit Award.. Following my military service, Ireceived two Bachelor of Arts degrees in Communications Studies - Rhetorical Theoryand Criminal Justice in 2000 from the University of Nevada - Las Vegas. I nextattended the Boyd School of Law and received my Juris Doctorate degree in 2003.. While still a full-time studentcompleting my undergraduate degrees and during my first two years of lawschool, I was employed at Binion's Horseshoe, where I started as a pokerdealer, was promoted to Shift Supervisor, and culminated my poker career as the2002 World Series of Poker Tournament Coordinator. In that role, I completedtournament scheduling, hired and supervised over 200 employees, revisedtournament structures and handled marketing and public relations. These latterresponsibilities included interviews with ABC, NBC, FOX, ESPN, ESPN Radio, theBBC, Associated Press, United Press International, Card Player Magazine andPoker Digest.. While at the Boyd School of Law, Iserved as a judicial extern for the Honorable James C. Mahan, United StatesDistrict Judge. I was also the Chair of the Executive Board for the Society ofAdvocates, the law school's moot court team. I participated in the WesternRegional of the American Bar Association's 2003 National Appellate AdvocacyCompetition, being named the tenth best oral advocate out of competitors fromover twenty law schools. I also was awarded the CALI Award for Banking Law, anaward given to the top grade in that class. I also participated in the PhiAlpha Delta Law Fraternity, an organization dedicated to public service bytightening the bond between the local community and the legal profession.. I continue to support the Boyd Schoolof Law as a loyal alumnus, most actively participating in judging moot courtcompetitions and helping to prepare Society of Advocate's members for variouscompetitions. In addition to my Nevada Bar membership, I am a member of theAmerican Bar Association, the Clark County Bar Association, the Howard D.McKibben Inn of Court, and the Nevada Justice Association.

I was born in Yerington Nevada in 1942.  I attended the local grammar, Junior High, and High Schools there, graduating in 1960.  While in high school, if I wasn’t participating in a school or sports activity, I either worked in my father’s grocery store or at one of the local farms or mines in the Valley.. I attended the University of Nevada, Reno Campus, graduating in January 1965.  In college, I was active in campus politics (Senior Class President), athletics (football), and a fraternity (Alpha Tan Omega).  I also had a part time job most of the time.  Additionally, I enrolled in the advanced ROTC program and, upon graduation I received a B.S. in Physical Education, a minor in business and was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in the U.S. Army Field Artillery.. I entered active duty with the U. S. Army in April of 1965 and was honorably discharged as a Captain in August 1970.  I served in South Korea, Oklahoma, and South Vietnam.  My primary assignment during those years was as a commander of company-sized units.  In addition to the theater ribbons associated with duty in South Vietnam, I was awarded two Army Commendation medals and the Bronze Star.. Upon being discharged, I entered law school at Hastings College of the Law, University of California, which is located in San Francisco.  Three years later I graduated and moved to Las Vegas with my wife Judy, son Mitchell, and daughter Jennifer.  After graduation and before moving, I took, successfully, the California Bar Examination.. While in law school and for a year or so thereafter, I served in the US Army Reserves as a Unit Commander in San Francisco and Las Vegas.. In 1973 I went to work for the Clark County Public Defender’s Office as a law clerk and then as a deputy upon passing the Nevada Bar exam.  After a little over two and a half years the law firm of Bell, Leavitt and Green hired me.. After leaving Bell, Leavitt and Green, I worked briefly at a law firm called Swanson, Momot, and Burns.  Since 1979 I have been practicing as Thomas M. Burns, Ltd., a sole practitioner.  My practice is about thirty percent criminal, the remainder is domestic

I was born in Michigan and went to Undergraduate School at Western Michigan University and graduated with a Bachelors of Science in Political Science and Criminal Justice.. Thereafter, I obtained my Masters Degree in Criminal Justice at Illinois State University.. I have a background in Real Estate and have held realestate licenses and appraisal licenses and was active as both a Realtor and Appraisor in the State of Illinois.. I was born in Las Vegas, Nevada, attended Las Vegas Day School, Bishop Gorman High School and UNLV. I attended law school at Pepperdine School of Law and loved living in California.. I have practiced mostly family law for 30 years, but also practiced bankruptcy and probate law. I was a partner in a law firm for many years and am now associated with a firm that handles estate planning, trusts, probate and guardianships (limited basis).. I am 100% Armenian, am divorced, no children but have wonderful young cousins and a Neice and Nephew that I treat as my own children. I was born and raised here in Southern Nevada. After high school I attended college at BYU and law school at the University of Denver. However, Nevada was always home. I was 7 years old when I decided to be a lawyer. President Nixon had just resigned and I asked my grandpa about it. He told me the Supreme Court sent him to bed without his dinner because he had been naughty. I decided being a Supreme Coiurt Justice sounded like a pretty great gig and that's how I decided I wanted to be a lawyer.. I took the long way around to being a lawyer, though. I spent 15 years as a newspaper report and then a few as a private investigator. Both those jobs gave me a healthy insight to how the criminal justice system worked, how it didn't work and what folks embroiled in the criminal justice system needed from lawyers.. Every person charged with an offense deserves strong, tough and compassionate legal representation. A client is never just a number to me. I want to know about them, how they found themselves in this situation, what they need to get back on the right track. I started law school in 2017, and graduated from the UNLV William S. Boyd School of law in 2020 with the highest Pro Bono Honors. I passed the Nevada bar exam in 2020, and began practicing as an associate attorney in Las Vegas. During law school, I was a junior staffer for the Nevada Law Journal, and then served as an Articles Editor. I was president of the Animal Legal Defense Society, and I was the Clerk for Phi Alpha Delta. I participated in Kid's Court for 3 years, serving the last two as an Educator.
