Sara graduated from the University of Central Arkansas with a Bachelor of the Arts degree in Philosophy and Religious Studies in 2008. She earned her Juris Doctorate from the William H. Bowen School of Law in 2012. Sara earned the Top Paper in Advanced Legal Writing for her paper on the Arkansas DNA Statute as it applied to the West Memphis 3 case.. Sara’s professional experience is focused primarily in domestic and civil litigation; her volunteer work includes clerking at the American Civil Liberties Union of Arkansas where she assisted the attorneys responsible for the victory in the ACLU’s challenge of Arkansas Act 1; and, researched, drafted, and prepared responses to proposed bills during the 2011 legislative session on behalf of the ACLU. Sara’s time at the ACLU has largely shaped her belief that everyone is entitled to diligent and competent advocacy when faced with injustice. During law school, Sara was an active member of the student chapter of Arkansas Association of Women Lawyers including serving as President her 3L year.. Her primary areas of practice are family law including divorce, custody, and child support issues; and, probate law including guardianships and adoptions. I was born in Texarkana, Texas and grew up in Hooks, Texas.  I have 3 sons who are still in/around Hooks, as well as 4 grandchildren.  I became interested in the field of law when I was divorced in 1996.

I started practicing law in 1982.. Starting the first day I began practicing law, I’ve been asked:  “What’s your success rate?”  Tough question?  Not really.  My success rate is far above most.  And its all about one thing:  Preparation.  Preparation makes a bad lawyer good, a good lawyer great and a great lawyer greater.  I been the lead attorney on cases that have been in the national news:  United States v. Celani was featured on ABC’s 20/20 and mentioned in the New Yorker magazine; Coleman v. Watt a lawsuit filed in federal court against a city judge who ordered the police to impound a car if the license plate was expired was featured on the Phil Donahue Show.  In State of Arkansas v. Kelvin Meeks was featured on the television magazine Hardcopy.. I fight hard for my clients…never too hard, there’s no such thing. For over 30 years, I have battled with law enforcement officers, only to turn around and represent them when they are in trouble.   And I do it within the bounds of the law and in a professional manner.  (Although I might have gone too far when I was quoted in the newspaper as saying, “There’s a criminal element in the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Department”.  And then there was the time I represented the first female sergeant with the North Little Rock Police Department. She was charged with perjury and that was later dismissed.  Afterwards, when I sued the police department in federal court I was quoted as saying, “She’s gonna own a fleet of police cars when this is over.”).

I have practiced law in Little Rock since August 1984. I had my first jury trial in September, 1984.  I have litigated a wide variety of matters including businesslitigation, real estate issues, admiralty cases, bankruptcy issues, family lawmatters, personal injury claims, fire loss cases and white collar criminalcases.. I have had at least one familymember actively practicing law in Arkansas since the 1870's.  This is a professional history that I try to honor in my practice.

I have been an attorney for approximately 24 years.  I was first licensed to practice in Alabama in 1990.  In 2012, I received my license to practice in Arkansas.  My practice is general in nature, meaning that I work for clients in the fields of domestic relations, criminal defense, dependency/neglect, juvenile delinquency, civil litigation (personal injury, medical malpractice, employment law, civil rights matters), Probate Matters and Appellate work.. My relocation to Arkansas does not mean that I have abandoned my business in Alabama.  Working with WMDR (the law firm of Wallace, Martin, Duke and Russell, PLLC), I have the flexibility to work between states.

I became a lawyer later in life after experiencing first hand as a single mother and business owner how helpless one can feel in a judicial system that seems out of reach to all but those with endless resources. I know what it is like to be faced with the need for legal representation in a judicial system that is too often dismissive of those with modest means and no special connections. Geoff Thompson was born in Thirsk, North Yorkshire, England.  He completed his undergraduate studies and MBA at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. Geoff went on to obtain his Juris Doctor from UALR's School of Law in 2002.  He joined Rainwater, Holt & Sexton in 2012.

From an early age, I found that I was very adept at working with fine details and applying them toward a solution. As someone who has always been an analytical thinker, I reveled in the art of critical thinking and problem-solving. This is what eventually led to me joining the U.S. Army.. I joined the Army so that I could learn to further develop those skills and apply them to real-world situations. For me, one of the best parts of serving was learning to work with others toward a common goal. It's what not only led me toward serving my country, but also a big part of what got me through my service, which included my participation in the invasion of Panama in 1989.. When I finished my service, I was immediately drawn toward practicing law because I knew it would allow me to continue to use my analytical and problem-solving skills to serve my community. I was quickly accepted into the University of Nebraska College of Law and received my Juris Doctor before returning to my home state of Arkansas to begin practicing law. From the outset, I decided to focus on a few areas of the law that would provide me with the opportunity to help people who often didn't have the means or opportunity to help themselves.. My initial focus was on legal appeals because I knew that my ability to study the smallest details of a case could go a long way toward helping my clients reverse the original decision in their case.
