I earned my Juris Doctorate at the University of Miami School of Law in Coral Gables, Florida. After passing the Florida Bar I was lucky enough to begin my legal career at the Miami-Dade Public Defender's office. There were over 2000 applications for 20 new attorney positions. During my five years as an assistant public defender I was the attorney of record in over 2500 cases, which included both felony and misdemeanor cases.. Before, I was a public defender, my training began as a certified legal intern at the Miami-Dade Public Defender's office, which is limited to students who have completed at least two years of law school and meet certification requirements set by the Supreme Court of Florida.  Legal Interns who are "certified" by the state Supreme Court are able to represent public defender clients in and out of court. After attending the Public Defender Orientation Training Series, and while under the supervision of Miami-Dade Public Defender's office, I received assignments in the misdemeanor division. Each day I worked closely with an experienced assistant public defender who acted as my mentor. They taught my how to conduct client interviews, take depositions, engage in motion practice, handle daily court calendars and try cases.. I attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill for my undergraduate studies and earned a double major. I was inducted into the Phi Beta Kappa National Honor Society, as well and the Golden Key National Honor Society.

I began my undergraduate studies as a chemistry major at the University of Southern California, but then quickly found my calling in law. After obtaining my Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and Sociology in 2001, I went on to attend Loyola Law School. During law school, I had the opportunity to work for a renowned appellate firm and intern with a Justice at the Court of Appeal, Second District. I also earned the First Honors Award for the highest grade in my Trial Advocacy class. I graduated from Loyola in 2004, and after passing the bar and being sworn in, went to work at a general business firm in Orange County, California.  But after handling an elder abuse cae, I quickly realized that I wanted to focus my legal talents on representing people who have been wronged by others.. My husband and I relocated to Northern California due to his job in the U.S. Coast Guard, and since then I have been representing clients who have suffered due to asbestos exposure. I manage all pre-trial matters of a case, including conducting and responding to discovery, taking corporate representative depositions, and preparing and opposing pre-trial motions. I use my writing skills to obtain key facts and documents from defendants and to defend against the numerous motions defendants file to try to get out of a lawsuit.. While the process seems cumbersome, a debtor is entitled to keep all his exempted property and also avoid law suits, wage garnishment, repossessions, bank levies and all creditors teckniques to make you pay a debt that most likely qualifies for  a "discharge" (forgiveness) in bankruptcy court.. Most people are under the mistaken belief that business or personal income income tax are not "dischargeable" through bankruptcy; however, meeting certain conditions they are forgiven in full..
