My first mentor was Stanley Jones. I was an associate of and of counsel to the Giacomini, Jones & etc, Klamath Falls law firm for a period of about 20 years. For that firm I tried a number of cases in Klamath Falls and other courts around the state, defending insurance companies against the claims of injured persons.. About 30 years ago I saw the light and since then I have not represented insurance companies, but have only represented injured persons in their claims against insurance companies.. In injury cases, my goal is to get my clients a fair settlement. In some cases a trial or arbitration is necessary to get a resolution.. I am a Southern Oregon native and love the community I work with and for. I graduated from Willamette University College of Law and Atkinson Graduate School of Management in 2016 with a dual degree, earning my JD and MBA. I have a background in business and customer service, particularly in real estate and the construction industry. I spent twelve years in the private sector prior to attending graduate school.. During law school, I had an opportunity to work as a court-certified law clerk for a busy family law firm. There I was able to take on my own cases under the supervision of my attorney and I found the practice area exciting, interesting, and challenging.. I currently focus exclusively on Family Law including: dissolution of marriage, registered and unregistered domestic partnership, custody and parenting, restraining and stalking orders, step-parent adoption, and minor guardianships.. Born in Idaho, and after some extensive childhood travels with his family, Art spent his formative years in Prescott, Arizona. He graduated from Whitman College in 1978 where he focused on literature, politics and theatre, and later studied comparative literature at USC where he was a graduate teaching assistant in French. He received his law degree from The Northwestern School of Law at Lewis and Clark College in 1984.. Art started his legal career as a Special Assistant Attorney General for the State of Oregon’s Insurance Fund (SAIF). This experience led Art to change hats and go into private practice representing injured and disabled individuals who have an uphill fight against the well-funded insurance industry. Art has represented hundreds of Oregonians whose claims have been denied or improperly processed. He has extensive litigation and appellate experience with the agencies and the courts where these matters are resolved.
