Michael grew up in Sharonville, Ohio, which is a suburb of Cincinnati. At an early age, his parents instilled a hard work ethic, which caused Michael to constantly seek new challenges either in work, school, or with sports. Michael even completed international baccalaureate course work at Princeton High School.. Marta is active in a number of civic and professional organizations, including Twin Cities Diversity in Practice, the Federal Bar Association, the Minnesota State, Wisconsin State, Federal, American, and Hispanic Bar Associations. She is the former chair of the Minnesota State Bar Association's Diversity Committee where she created the Minnesota Minority Clerkship Program, as well as implemented the Class Action program with the Minneapolis Public Schools and Hazelden.
