I obtained a Biology degree from the University of Kansas in 1998, and was awarded a Juris Doctor degree from Washburn University of Law in 2001.. Starting my career as assistant district attorney in Kansas City, I was primarily assigned to litigating child abuse and neglect cases. I have first-chaired over 20 jury trials since 2001 that involved either a homicide or high level sex offense..
