I obtained a Biology degree from the University of Kansas in 1998, and was awarded a Juris Doctor degree from Washburn University of Law in 2001.. Starting my career as assistant district attorney in Kansas City, I was primarily assigned to litigating child abuse and neglect cases. I have first-chaired over 20 jury trials since 2001 that involved either a homicide or high level sex offense.. In 2006 I formed Leiker Law Office P.A. to represent clients with various family law issues. Leiker Law Office, P.A. is a family law firm dedicated to providing the highest quality service and representation to clients seeking assistance with divorce, paternity, custody, domestic violence cases, and appeals.. I try to maintain a presence in criminal law even though our focus has been famly law since 2006. In 2013 I was appointed by the governor to sit on the Kansas State Board of Indigent Defense Services and the appointment was unanimously confirmed by the Kansas Senate  (elected Board chairman in 2016). This Board generally oversees all of the public defender offices within the state, and the millions of dollars in state funding allocated to the same.
