Peter was admitted to the Montana State Bar in 2006, the U.S. District Court in 2006, the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals in 2008 and the United States Supreme Court in 2013.. Peter is a shareholder at McFarland Molloy Lacny & Duerk.  Peter has obtained acquittals for accused clients in both state and federal courts. He has handled appeals to the Montana and United States Supreme Courts, and has argued in front of the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals.. Mr. Bell graduated with honors from the University of Montana law school in 1993. During law school, he received the American Jurisprudence award for scholarship in Real Property and the Lewis F. Powell, Jr. Award for Excellence in Advocacy.  He was a member of the Moot Court competition team and tried numerous cases as the head intern for the Missoula County Attorney’s office.. Mr. Bell has over twenty years of practice experience, and has represented clients throughout the State of Montana.  Mr. Bell is admitted to practice before the Montana State and Federal District Courts, the Montana Supreme Court, the Tribal Court of the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes of the Flathead Reservation, and the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. Matthew A. McKeon was born and raised in the mining city of Butte, America. He attended Dartmouth College followed by the University of Montana School of Law. He is admitted to practice law in Montana District Courts and the U.S. District Court, District of Montana (2014).. John was born in South Bend, Indiana, and grew up in the Smelter City of Anaconda, Montana.  When choosing a career path, his interest in science led him to Montana Tech in Butte, Montana, where he graduated with honors in Engineering Science in 1994. While going to school at Tech he also worked as a railway track crewman, an intern at an engineering firm testing magnetohydrodynamics power generation and plasma arc furnaces, and also as a powerline construction inspector.. He passed the FE (Fundamentals of Engineering) exam and started graduate work in Petroleum Engineering.  However, after taking an environmental law course, he changed his mind and decided to go to law school instead.  Prior to heading to law school he obtained a commercial driver’s license and drove specialized commercial vehicles in oil fields and drove belly and end-dump trucks for the construction of the Old Works golf course in Anaconda.. John earned a Juris Doctorate from the University of Montana School of Law.  After graduation, he worked as a Special Assistant Attorney General for the Montana Department of Transportation for three years.  There he handled construction, environmental and eminent domain litigation.  He also represented the agency in administrative hearings.. John went into private practice with the civil defense/insurance firm of Phillips & Bohyer, and then the Phillips Law Firm, later becoming Phillips Haffey.  In these firms he litigated insurance, injury, contract, products liability, trucking and intellectual property matters.. In November of 2015, he co-founded Haffey Vap PLLC, with Mitch Vap.  Their desire for smaller firm with a broader scope led them to form Haffey Vap.  John is admitted to practice in State and Federal Courts in Montana, the 9th Circuit and Federal Circuit Courts of Appeal and as a patent attorney with the United States Patent and Trademark Office.  He is AV® rated by Martindale Hubbell and has been listed as a SuperLawyer® in civil litigation since 2010.  He is a member of the Tau Beta Pi engineering honor society, the State Bar of Montana, and the Defense Research Institute.. James is a fourth generation Montanan and lifelong resident of this beautiful state. He has dedicated his career to representing everyday people against the oppression of the powerful, whether that be the government, big corporations, insurance companies, or others who seek to take advantage of hard working Montanans.. James obtained both his bachelor’s degree in philosophy (2011) and law degree (2016) from the University of Montana. After law school, James clerked for United States District Court Judge Sam Haddon in Helena for one year. He then briefly served as a public defender in Helena before accepting his (then) dream job at Meyer, Shaffer & Stepans in Missoula, where for 6 years he represented individuals in Montana and Wyoming in areas such as oil field accidents, civil rights, sexual assaults, employment disputes, and contract disputes.. I have been an attorney for 22 years, most recently as a partner at Garlington, Lohn & Robinson in Missoula, Montana. Prior to that, I was an attorney with Davis Wright Tremaine in Seattle.  Before opening my own office, my practice was primarily defense oriented in that I represented people and companies that were sued. My practice now is more general in that I represent people and businesses in a wider range of areas.

I grew up in Missoula but went to school at Montana State University to get a B.S. in chemical engineering.  After working at the Hanford site in Washington, I returned to Missoula for law school.  I started as an intern at Worden Thane in 1994 and graduated  from law school in 1996 when I was hired as an associate.. Starting in 1999, I began working on complex litigation involving professional negligence (predominately medical malpractice) and class actions.  I have represented a variety of doctors, lawyers, accountants, and contractors in professional negligence cases.   I have also represented hospitals, power companies, and other businesses in class action litigation.. I have the honor of having a great group of clients in banking, construction, power production, and medicine.. Otherwise, I am an avid hockey player and a founder of the Missoula Woodpeckers Hockey Club, a travelling team, and I am completing my work for a black belt in taekwondo.

I graduated from Hellgate High School in 1971.  I was a member of the debate team in high school and continued on the debate team for the University of Montana.  I graduated from the U of M in 1975 with a degree in Human Communications and from the School of Law in 1980.. I was a law clerk for Justice Frank Morrison, Jr in 1981 and the Chief Enforcement Attorney for the Montana Securities Department in 1982.  I did post graduate study at the Puget Sound School of law before returning to Missoula to open a practice in 1983.  I began Bulman Law Associates PLLC and have specialized in disability and injury law since that time.

I am Montana born and raised.  I have been practicing law for 23 years, and spent time in the banking industry prior to returning to law school.  My practice is limited to family law, and engaging in alternative dispute resolution (mediation, arbitration and settlement conferences).  My settlement rate exceeds 93% on an annual basis.. I am active in the Missoula community, and have served on numerous local boards, including Little League baseball, Legion Baseball, Grizzly Scholarship Association, Missoula Country Club and others.  I coached youth sports for many years.. First off, in the spirit of full disclosure, I confess that I am not a native Montanan – I’m an Oregon transplant.  (When football season rolls around, I don’t argue Griz or Cats – I just sit back and remind everyone I’m a Duck… or at least, I used to.  Then, Marcus Mariota graduated...  but, I digress.)I am the only child of a single working mom.  I was born in San Francisco, and we moved to the Willamette Valley in Oregon when I was about 9 years old.  I grew up out in the country where ageing hippies (including some of the original Merry Pranksters) live beside old school farmers and ranchers.  From both, I learned lessons about self-sufficiency that I still rely on today. After high school, I moved to Washington and married a man in the Air Force.  When he got orders for Okinawa, Japan, I wasn’t sure I would like it – four years later, I didn’t want to leave. I was always horse crazy, but we couldn’t afford one when I was growing up – I’ve been making up for that ever since.  Today, I have two slightly lunatic retirees and a ginormous warmblood named Steve.  Don’t ask about him unless you’re prepared to look at pictures – I’m ridiculously fond of him.I have a variety of other animals – all strays or adoptees.  My Lincoln – who came out of a box of free puppies at Safeway – often comes to the office with me because legal research is a lot more fun when there’s a big old head lying across your feet.
