Jennifer Roark was born in Salt Lake City, Utah and raised in Hailey, Idaho. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of Utah, graduating magna cum laude. After completing her undergraduate work, Ms. Roark earned her juris doctorate from the University of Idaho College of Law.. During law school, Ms. Roark worked for the College of Law's legal aid program, representing lower income clients in divorces, child custody cases, guardianships, termination and adoption proceedings. After graduating from law school, Jennifer served as the staff attorney for the Honorable Thomas J. Ryan. Thereafter, Jennifer joined Gulstrom Roark & Govia, PC, representing clients in divorces, modificaitons, adoptions, guardianships and child protective services cases.  In 2016 Jennifer joined the firm Hamilton Michaelson & Hilty, LLP, where she continues her family law practice, and now includes other civil litigation in the Third and Fourth Judical Districts.  Jennifer is the President of the Board of Directors for the Third District Guardian ad Litem, a CASA program providing court advocates for abused and neglected children in our community.

Grew up in Twin Falls, Idaho, in a family of four children.  Traveled for several years before achieving a Bachelor's Degree in English Literature and a Bachelor's Decree in Political Science at Boise State University.  In law school, headed moot court program and managed symposium edition of the Idaho Law Review.  Extremely dedicated to work and the people I work with.. After working in a large firm environment engaged in business and contract work, settled into a small, family-run and family-oriented firm at Gulstrom, Henson & Petrie, PC.  After witnessing the anxiety and lack of communication many individuals--including personal family and friends-- had with other attorneys in their family law cases, became committed to giving each client a high level of individual attention and education about choices in his or her case.. Outside of work, I enjoy river rafting, the outdoors, gardening and cooking for family and friends.

Biography:. After practicing for 15 years of successfully practicing law in Missoula, Montana, my wife (an Idaho native) convinced me to move to Boise to be closer to her family.  In 2013, I passed the Idaho bar and started my own practice.  Being your own boss is great, however, I wanted to work with skilled attorneys who complement each other’s skills and shared my desire to help clients in finding the best solution to his/her problem.  “Best” is usually the least emotionally and financially taxing solution that provides my clients with the majority of what they should receive.  With Nikki and Deena, I’ve found two attorneys who work great individually and as a team, enjoy helping people and are fun to work with.. Philosophy:. My philosophy in practicing law is to find the best solution to my client’s problem.  While an attorney has to always prepare like the case will be tried, rarely is a trial the best solution due to the expense, mental and physical toll taken on a client.  As there are always 2 sides to a story, the best result usually involves a reasonable compromise.  My skills, training, and experience allow me to assess a case, determine the sticking point (settlement range) and convince the opposing party, counsel or insurer to find common ground to work toward a reasonable solution for both sides.. I love paying my clients instead of vice versa.  My best work days involve seeing my clients' faces when I deliver their settlement checks.  Those moments are what make all time spent on client meetings, document review, negotiations, legal document drafting, and in court worthwile..
