The year 2023 will be my 20th year of practicing law, all of which have been spent proudly serving all of Hampton Roads. Although my principal office is in Hampton/Newport News, I regularly take on cases as far west as Williamsburg and as far east as Virginia Beach. I am available for cases in other courts, such as King William and Richmond, but a local attorney will often prove more effective.

I've dreamed of becoming a lawyer for a large portion of my life, and I'm happy to report that years of practice have not dulled my passion! I consider it an absolute privilege to represent my clients and to meet people "where they're at". We all fall on hard times during various seasons, and I see first hand just how difficult it is to walk through a divorce, custody battle, criminal charge, protective order, and many other legal matters. Because I understand these unique personal challenges and emotional battles, I consider it my responsibility to operate as a light in a dark place. As a family law lawyer and certified mediator, I aim to help husbands and wives, fathers and mothers, family members and parents preserve their relationships for the sake of the children. If I can help individuals come to a place where they can sit around a table and figure things out together without fighting to the death in court, I consider it a great victory. Although I do enjoy going before a Judge and fighting for your position (as every true attorney enjoys!), I prefer to help my clients move forward without a blood-thirsty court battle.. I have practiced in Hampton Roads and the greater Peninsula area, and I am familiar with many local Judges and courtrooms. I've done much criminal defense and family law work in the past, but have now narrowed my practice to family law matters. As a graduate of Regent University School of Law and a Hampton Roads resident, I truly value serving my community in a way that helps many families and individuals move forward.. In my free time, I'm an avid songwriter and I enjoy singing with my Church's worship ministry. Plus, I'm a tea enthusiast, and I love burying my nose in a great book!
I help clients with all aspects of driving related matters, including defending against charges related to DUI / DWI, Reckless Driving, Suspended License, License restoration, Speeding and other traffic charges.. I spoke on the topic "Serious Traffic Offenses in Virginia" for the Virginia Peninsula Paralegal Association and have provided video excerpts from that presentation for you to review on this website.. I authored a chapter in the book, A Cup of Coffee With 10 of the Top DUI Attorneys in the United States. This book achieved the Amazon Bestseller List and Amazon's Hot New Release status. The proceeds of this book benefit Kiwanis in their work helping children.
I have four kids. Do not question my judgment though, because they are all in their special way a gift from God to me.. I also try in whatever free time I can spare to engage in other passions, such as playing tennis in local leagues, and playing guitar, and writing songs. I try to avoid, but not at all cost, jumping out of airplanes and competing in crossfit mud tournaments.. I like the Detroit Tigers because my childhood was spent in that city, where my father managed the Western Union before the invention of the fax machine, and before all that was left over in its ashes was moneygrams. Do they even have candygrams anymore?. I also like the Washington Redskins. Again, please do not question my judgment, but instead understand that my unwavering dedication to what may be the worst team in the NFL shows how much dedication I will give to your case or cases no matter how hard they may be to prosecute or to defend.. I win cases by preparation and by acting civilly, so if you are looking for a lawyer that compensates by acting unruly, mean, and disrespectfully, you need to look elsewhere.
I have been licensed as a Virginia attorney since 2004.

I love literature, movies, history, games, and amateur carpentry and home projects.. Hi there. My name is C. Carter Allen. Some of you may be familiar with me as I graduated locally from Regent University School of Law in 2008 and have been in practice in the Hampton Roads area ever since. Now, after 10 years of successfully flying solo, I have been welcomed to the Holcomb Law team.. I grew up in the heartland of America, in the state of Iowa, but have called Hampton Roads home since Thanksgiving Day of 1992. I currently live in Hampton with my wife, Jessica, two dogs (260 pounds worth!!), and three odd cats. I have three sons (Kyler, Sean, and Austin) and one daughter (Kayla); all but one has flown the coop; on to bright futures.. How did an Iowa boy find his way out East? The United States Marine Corps sent me here by way of sunny southern California, and I simply refused to leave! I was a Sergeant in the Marine Corps in the Infantry and Security Forces, and I like to put that initiative, drive, and leadership ability to work for our clients every day.
