Over eighteen years ago I opened my first law office based on the belief that an attorney's reputation means everything and that a reputation for integrity, dependability and compassion must be earned one case at a time and one client at a time. Each person that comes through my door is deserving of respect and judgment-free counsel. Every person that becomes my client will receive diligent, effective and zealous representation. While I enjoy practicing law in several different fields and in many different courts throughout the state, the common thread throughout my practice is my commitment to always put my client's wellbeing first and to always listen to their goals, hopes and concerns when shaping case objectives and strategy. Client-centered representation begins with careful listening built upon a foundation of trust. Everyone is entitled to just and fair treatment when dealing with our legal system; I strive every day to make that aspiration a reality for every person that I accept as my client.. Please call me to discuss your case. I will give you a fair, frank assessment of your case and tell you how I believe that I can help you. Should I feel that I am not the right attorney for your case, I will politely and promptly decline representation so you can continue searching. Some attorneys will over-promise during your initial meetings, and then ultimately under-deliver and disappoint you. As a prospective client, you deserve to hear the strengths as well as the weaknesses about your case. Some other attorneys may engage in high-pressure sales tactics or try to frighten you into quickly retaining them. I do not approve of such marketing tactics. I will patiently listen to your personal story and clearly explain my legal fees for your case and allow you as much time as you need to decide whether to retain me. In fact, I often encourage potential clients that have clearly been "attorney shopping" to feel free to call around to obtain other estimates before I draft my attorney fee agreement. I am confident about the quality of my legal services, the depth of my knowledge, my ability to research any unique legal problem that may arise, and my ability to secure you a fair and just trial. Moreover, I am confident that the flat fees and hourly rates that I charge for my legal services are well within community standards and commensurate with my decade of hard-won experience. I'm sure you will find that in many cases my attorney fees will be more affordable and a better value than my competition.. Estate Planning for the Whole FamilyWe work with families of all kinds; those who are married or single, with a traditional family or a blended one, and those who are just starting out or looking at a life well-lived.. I graduated with honors from the University of Washington School of Law in 1980. After working in the legal field for 28+ years, I took a 10-year break before returning to law in 2022.. So, I AM BACK! I am rebuilding what I started with the benefit of my life experience and the resources of the Personal Family Lawyer program. The programs systems create an efficiency that allows me to focus on what I like best: getting to know our clients so we can create comprehensive customized plans for them.. I am the proud mother of Megan and Alec and grandmother of Jameson and triplets; McKinley, Jaden and Jaxson.. Because of my grandparenting experience, I am especially interested in working with grandparents – who want to protect themselves, their wonderful adult children, and their adored grandchildren.. A former client who wants to work with me again, says: “Thank you for coming back to help those of us who love your wonderful help with our futures and how we want t leave things for our loved ones. You are the best! Thank you, Melanie D.”.. We start by scheduling a Wealth Planning Session (which usually lasts 2 hours). Once scheduled, we send a Life and Legacy Inventory and Assessment to be completed as best you can before the Wealth Planning Session. We also ask for copies of all Deeds, financial statements evidencing your ownership of bank accounts, investment accounts, retirement accounts, and annuities, as well as stocks or bond certificates. In addition, we need copies of any LLC or Partnership Agreements and your previous estate planning documents. At that session, I make recommendations regarding a customized estate plan and the corresponding flat fee; half of which is paid upfront and the balance paid at the completion of the estate plan. (Because we don’t bill hourly for estate planning, there are no surprises.) The signing of the documents usually takes place 4 weeks after the planning session.. After completion and implementation of the estate plan, we offer free 3-year review sessions to determine if there is a need for a change in your estate plan. (The client is responsible for scheduling those 3-year reviews).. We also offer plans by which we provide life and legacy planning to family members, such as adult children, parents and grandparents.

Charged with a crime? Got a traffic infraction? Need firearm rights restoration? - BETTER GET BRET!. ****Aggressive Criminal Defense**** ****Traffic Infractions**** ****Firearms Rights Restoration****. As a law student at Seattle University, I spent a year and a half providing public defense work in the King County court system. I worked in every aspect of District Court - from the jail to the jury. The diversity of my court assignments showed me a multitude of different defendants and case facts. I was able to learn the trade from some of the absolute best in the criminal defense business. Since passing the bar, I have continued on with my commitment to indigent defense, working first as a a public defender in Mason County, and then with the City of Olympia. My fee structure allows me to help people of different socioeconomic backgrounds; defending those who would otherwise be without representation.. In 2016, I started my own practice, Eloquence Law, PLLC, and it grew rapidly. I have worked in courts spanning the Western half of Washington. I actively seek firearm rights restoration for clients that have lost those rights in the past, as well as clearing records, by way of vacating felonies and misdemeanors. I have also contested and won countless traffic infractions, but the vast majority of my time is spent in criminal defense. I fully believe in zealous representation and advocacy for my clients in all cases: public or private; paid or unpaid. I believe in the idea of justice, and work daily towards reaching it for my clients.
