Alan Perkins practices in the area of immigration law, focusing on employment-based immigration and counseling on employment law matters relating to foreign nationals. Akin Blitz is a shareholder with Bullard Law. He represents private employers, cities, counties and special districts throughout Oregon and Washington in all matters related to labor and employment, as well as related municipal law issues. His practice includes bargaining, labor contract administration, employee relations, discipline and discharge, practice before state and federal agencies, preventive law/risk management, and policy review and implementation.. In his free time, Akin enjoys cycling and alpine downhill skiing.  He has served as a high school ski race official and as Vice President and Chairman of Risk Management for the Boy Scouts Cascade Pacific Council.  Akin also serves on the board of trustees for the Oregon Humane Society.  With his late bearded collie, Annie, he provided therapy and support to medically fragile children at various hospitals and to victims and witnesses of violence in connection with several law enforcement agencies.  Their teamwork led to Annie's induction into the Oregon Animal Hall of Fame.

After graduating from Colorado College with a B.A. in Economics and a minor in Western Resource Management, I moved to Washington D.C., and took a position with American Rivers lobbying on Capitol Hill and working with local governments and communities to balance industry with sustainable environmental systems.  I moved back to Seattle, WA, in 1998, and worked for a short time in the public relations world, continuing my work with environmental concerns. These experiences were excellent background for entering Willamette University College of Law, receiving my law degree in 2003.  I worked as a law clerk for City County Insurance Services, a risk liability pool insuring a vast array of Oregon public entities, during these years.. My professional legal experience includes the City of Tacoma’s prosecutor’s office where I led the division in both jury trials and criminal convictions.  The position was exceedingly fast paced, and entailed significant trial preparation, as well as dealing with extensive pre-trial discovery, and the strict attention to deadlines required with a high load of criminal cases.  I then worked with Bullivant, Houser & Bailey where I worked in the comprehensive trial litigation group.  I handled all aspects of civil defense, discovery, alternative dispute resolution, and trial preparation.   I then elected to move to Portland where I took a position with Gordon & Rees’ brand new Portland office, handling all aspects of defense litigation for a wide variety of civil defense litigation legal fields.  I am now Managing Partner of the Portland, Oregon office of HKM Employment Attorneys.  My experiences encompass the comprehensive areas of case analysis, discovery, depositions, legal research and writing, case investigation and resolution, trial preparation and alternative dispute resolution.  Marketing and networking have been a must, activities I thoroughly enjoy.
