Firm: Paul J. Goeke Jr.

Paul Goeke is licensed to practice in State and Federal Court. He is a Board Certified Criminal Law Specialist. To achieve this qualification, a lawyer must devote a significant part of his practice to Criminal Law for a minimum of five (5) years and then pass a special law examination on Texas Criminal Law. Mr Goeke's law career has been ENTIRELY devoted to criminal law. Having begun his career as an Assistant District Attorney with the Bexar County District Attorney's Office, he has experience "on both sides of the docket". This provides a unique and highly valuable insight into the trial of criminal cases as it helps a lawyer to recognize the strengths and weaknesses of the State's case. Modern criminal cases rely heavily on forensic sciences and the application of science in the courtroom. Mr.Goeke has a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology with a Minor in the Physical and Biological sciences. He has studied extensively in medicine and the educational background makes him especially qualified to defend individual accused of crimes ranging from Capital Murder, Intoxication Manslaughter/Assault, Sexual Assault to Driving While Intoxicated.. All criminal defense cases are challenging. Defending an individual accused and prosecuted by the state, the police, all of the forces of government, this requires considerable training and experience. Many people wonder "Why would a lawyer who is qualified to handle capital murder or aggravated sexual assault cases also handle misdemeanor DWI cases?" The fact of the matter is that DWIs can be some of the most complex and difficult cases that exist. Successfully defending a DWI case requires an in depth understanding of science, law and human nature. DWI also accounts for the greatest number of actual innocent people charged with a crime. Every good lawyer enjoys a challenge and every good lawyer enjoys seeing innocent people acquitted (found not guilty) by juries. Mr. Goeke will represent you as an individual and treat your case as the most important case there is--because IT IS!  Conviction for ANY crime can have a long term negative impact on you.

Firm: Robbie L. Ward

Originally from West Texas, Robbie considers San Antonio home now. She graduated from St. Mary’s School of Law in San Antonio in 2001 and immediately began working at the District Attorney’s office. Although she knew she wanted to be a criminal defense attorney, she had been told by mentor’s that the best defense attorneys were prosecutors first. After working at the Bexar County District Attorney’s office she became an Assistant United States Attorney which only helped increase her knowledge of how to effectively evaluate and try cases. Robbie left the U.S. Attorney’s office to become a criminal defense attorney and has been extremely successful in her representation of clients.. She has tried many state and federal cases as both a prosecutor and as a defense attorney. As a defense attorney, her efforts and wins for her clients have earned her the nickname, “The Beast”, among many of her clients. It’s a nickname she laughs off, but has said it does make her feel proud that her clients know she will always fight hard and they appreciate the efforts she puts into each case.. Being able to do what you love and have real passion for is a key part of her success. Robbie said although the work is hard and can require lots of long hours, the ability to help people in their most trying times is worth it. As a single mom running her own practice, Robbie said it makes her proud that her daughter knows that what she is doing makes a real difference in people’s lives and her daughter is learning the same values Robbie was taught by her parents:                                                                            to be anything great, you have to work hard.

Firm: Kim M. Munsinger Attorney at Law

My practice focuses on family law with an emphasis on collaborative divorce and mediation.  In my family law practice, I have always sought mutually beneficial solutions to family disputes while actively representing my clients. After seeing the damage a litigated divorce can do to couples and families, I was happy to discover a positive alternative—collaborative divorce.  Now, as a collaborative practitioner, I have seen firsthand how the collaborative process can help couples reach a settlement as close to win-win as possible under the circumstances.  A divorce is a sad and difficult time, but the collaborative process is designed to help couples get through it constructively. Collaborative means working together, and that’s exactly what the couple, their collaborative lawyers, and any neutral experts on the collaborative team do. This is a radically different approach to divorce but one that makes sense for couples who want a private, respectful, cost-efficient divorce that protects families.  The collaborative process can also be used to resolve family law disputes other than divorces.. Ms. Munsinger received her B.A. summa cum laude from Trinity University (Texas) in 1995, where she was a member of Phi Beta Kappa.  She received her J.D. from the University of Texas in 2000, where she was a Notes Editor on the Texas Law Review.  Ms. Munsinger is the editor of Collaborative Law—Start to Finish from TexasBarBooks.. Ms. Munsinger is admitted to practice in Texas state courts, the United States District Court for the Western District of Texas, the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals, and the United States Supreme Court.

My interest in the law came about during my first years of college at the State University of New York.  I had a keen interest in history, Amercian and English history, and a desire to learn about anything I could get my hands on.  During college I worked for the New York State Attorney General in the Consumer Fraud and Protection Bureau then I worked for the New York State Senate and was able to rub shoulders with Lt. Governor Mario Cuomo.. Although able to attend law school in the Northeast, I tired of shoveling snow off the hood of the car, I decided to go South.  I attended my last year of High School in Chihuahua, Mexico.  I returned to school in Morelia, Michoacan, Mexico. I loved the people and language of Mexico.  I wanted to continue to use Spanish and I sought a school close to Mexico. I attended St. Mary's School of Law graduating in 1987 ( I also took law clases at University of Texas Law School in Austin).. With my interest in constitutional law, I believe my practice which is primarily employment / labor law and criminal law is logical.  Both deal with individual rights and constitutional law.. In my employment / labor practice, I represent both employers and employees (not in the same case!).  The federal and state statutes that define the relationship between employers and employees are complex and are ever-changing through court interpretation.  I have written a deskbook on employment law that divides the complex laws on a conceptual basis for easy use by the practitioner.. In my criminal practice, I defend the accused, from murder to drug cases.  I have also been and continue to be a municipal prosecutor for almost twenty years.  I have been a municipal judge for almost twenty several years.  I am often hired to get involved in a criminal case to determine if evidence can be suppressed (whether statements made by the accused or physical evidence seized by law enforcement). I have secured dismissal in many cases because evidence could not be used.  I prevailed on suppression issues in the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals and another in the Third Court of Appeals in Austin.  I see first-hand as a city prosecutor the application of the principles of reasonable suspicion, probable cause, and the necessary and proper procedure to get evidence in.. I conduct training for police officers on the proper application of the principles in the Texas Constitution and the U.S. Constitution involving police encounters with citizens in regards to searches and seizures.. Apart from the law, and after my involvement with my children, tennis is my joy.  I try to play three to four times a week.  Tennis anyone???
