I was born and raised in the Chicago-land area, and will always consider myself a Chicago girl at heart although I absolutely love living in Seattle. I earned a degree in finance from the University of Illinois and started my career as a futures and options auditor. I went on to become a financial analyst for a couple of years before deciding that I needed a career change where I could more directly work with and help people. I attended law school at Tulane University in New Orleans, and am incredibly proud to have lived in such a diverse, rich, and amazing city. The time I lived in New Orleans was a period of time where the city was filled with unfaltering hope, revitalization, and rejuvenation post-Katrina. I will be forever grateful that I was able to call myself a New Orleanian for three incredible years.. During law school, I interned at the Cook County Criminal Court in Chicago, and at the Northwest Justice Project in Seattle. After graduating from law school, I worked for the Honorable Judge Julie Spector at the King County Superior Court.. I feel very fortunate to be able to say that I love my job. I love being able to help people as they transition from the familiar to the unknown – to an unknown filled with endless possibility. Nothing brings me greater joy in my work than seeing the evolution my clients undergo from the beginning of their case to the conclusion. I think many people are surprised by their own strength and transformations; it’s thrilling to be a part of their journey!. Family law deals with two areas many people hold most dear – their family and their finances. It is a highly emotionally charged area of law, and I enjoy bringing my financial background to the table. It is my job as an attorney to advocate to the best of my ability for my clients, to educate them on the law, and to listen to them when all they need is an ear.. I love music and am a classically trained pianist as well as a saxophone player. A huge sports fan, I am always rooting on my Chicago Cubs, Chicago Bears, and Fighting Illini. After living in the incredible city of New Orleans, I am an avid supporter of any and all things championing the rebuilding of NOLA. My favorite activity outside of the office is spending time with my daughter and my husband. I live with my husband, our daughters.

My practice emphasizes class action defense, unique or challenging commercial disputes, and privacy issues. I have represented clients from large Fortune 100 companies to local, family-owned businesses and sole proprietorships. Regardless of the size or stakes, I constantly push myself to bring my all to every matter. I represent clients in federal court, state court, and arbitrations. I regularly defend clients in consumer and privacy-related class action cases. I enjoy the unique and challenging cases I’ve been privileged to handle, such as recent arbitrations involving beer distribution rights and Brazilian real estate franchising, the bench trial of a race car sponsorship case, and the watershed Ninth Circuit data breach case of Krottner v. Starbucks. I’ve taken multiple cases to trial or arbitration and am always ready to do so. I regularly volunteer pro bono time to a local public defender agency and the ACLU. I frequently write and speak at CLEs about the areas I work in, including privacy, data security, class action issues, and attorney-client privilege.. I help people get the relief that is available under the bankruptcy code and I actually enjoy doing it. I have heavily concentrated in bankruptcy, filing or otherwise working on approximately 2000 cases over a 15 year span. In addition to my consumer bankruptcy experience, I also do creditor's side work helping aggrieved parties collect on their debts. I know how they think, and I can help you get relief.. While bankruptcy is my main area of concentration, I can also help business wind up their activities or help them in receiverships.. On the personal side, I graduated with a degree in geology and worked in a limestone quarry as an on-site geologist for a summer. After that, I moved to Japan where I taught English, wrote English textbooks and helped to manage an English school for 4.5 years.. I look forward to getting to know you and to helping you with your case.. -Steve Palmer

I founded the Nolan Lim Law Firm because I grew frustrated seeing companies oppress and exploit ethical workers who work hard, stand up for equality, and legal rights in the workplace.  In my many years as an employment attorney I witnessed many times both personally and professionally where “anti-harassment policies”, and “diversity and inclusion”, are just words that corporations and government institutions use to mask discrimination and retaliation against those who stand up for compliance with workplace laws.. My clients drive me forward every day. It’s an honor to help victims of illegal workplace activity to move past their trauma and have their dignity and self-worth restored, while holding the offending employer accountable.”. -Nolan Lim, Firm Founder and Lead Attorney
