I was born and raised in Whatcom County, Washington, near the US/Canadian border.   I am a proud partner in Seattle Consumer Justice, P.S., a firm based in Seattle, but I spend a great deal of time in our Bellingham branch office.   We assist consumers and small businesses with bankruptcy, debt settlement, and debt-related consumer rights litigation.. I was born and raised in New York City.   As the son of two immigrant parents I witnessed first-hand the struggles of acculturation and limited economic opportunities.  Upon graduating law school, I returned to New York and worked for a small boutique firm that specialized in employment based visas.  Later, I represented many Chinese asylum seekers before the Immigration Court in New York, not more than five blocks from where I was raised.  Talk about full-circle.. I opened WA Workers' Comp Law, PLLC in 2015 after retiring from my position as an Assistant Chief Industrial Appeals Judge with the Board of Industrial Insurance Appeals, the agency which hears appeals from parties aggrieved by decisions made by the Department of Labor and Industries.  I bring my 29 years of judicial experience at the Board to our boutique law firm whose sole purpose is to represent the rights of workers injured in the state of Washington.  I work with my wife, Laurel J. Anderson, a paralegal who spent over 3 years representing the Department of Labor and Industries, and then 25 years advocating on behalf of injured workers. It is our goal to provide our clients with expert, personal, proactive and principled representation.

I maintain an employment litigation and employment and labor advice practice.  I have experience representing private and public-sector employers in employment-related litigation in federal and state courts throughout Washington State, arbitrations, and in administrative hearings. My practice emphasizes preventive counseling to clients to avoid or minimize the risk of litigation. I have worked as a public defender since law school.  I have represented indigent accused persons facing misdemeanors and felonies.  I have represented juveniles.  I have represented persons facing civil commitmen for mental illness.. Since 2009 I have soleley represented those facing civil commitment as sexually violent predators..
