My practice of law is primarily in all areas of family law including separation and divorce, custody, child support, alimony, property division, and domestic violence.  I also litigate cases in many other areas of law before judges and juries.   My largest referral source is my clients, past and present. I have a reputation for being aggressive, effective, and thorough, without ever forgetting that I am serving my clients’ needs and goals first and foremost. I believe that my job is not only to be an excellent advocate for my clients, but also to educate and inform them so that they are empowered to make important decisions in their cases and in their personal and professional lives. Whether I am representing a client in highly-contested litigation or resolving outstanding matters through collaborative law, mediation or settlement negotiations, my primary goals are to provide my client with a clear understanding of how the law applies to his/her particular situation, to keep my client advised of the current status and next steps in the case process, and to obtain the best results for my client.. Born and raised in Queens, New York, I graduated from State University of New York in Binghamton with honors in 1985 and then received my law degree from Washington College of Law (WCL) at American University, cum laude, in 1988, and I now serve on the WCL Dean’s Advisory Council.   I am currently Chair of the Litigation Section (Trial Attorneys) of Maryland and I am a founder of Collaborative Dispute Resolution Association and currently sit on the board of the Collaborative Dispute Association.  I also serve on several committees of the Maryland State Bar Association and I am on the Legal Advisory Board of the Nation's Capital Chapter of the Multiple Sclerosis Society and on the Advisory Board of Revere Bank.. I have also been appointed by the Court to serve as Personal Representative or Trustee in such cases.. In my collections and civil litigation practice, I have assisted many individuals and businesses, including law firms, medical practices, private schools, and construction companies, in recovering debts and accounts receivables owed to them from vendors, contractors, clients, and tenants.. I have extensive experience at all court levels, including Federal District Court and the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit, as well as District and Circuit Courts throughout the State of Maryland. I have argued before the Maryland Court of Special Appeals and been victorious in each of my cases at the appellate level. I am admitted to the Bar for the United States Supreme Court.. In 2011, I was nominated, selected and recognized by the Daily Record as a Maryland “Leading Woman”—an award bestowed to a small group of women, all under the age of 40 years, in recognition of their accomplishments to date in their business and legal careers. Additionally, I have been named a “Rising Star” in the area of family law by Super Lawyers Magazine each year from 2012 through 2021 and a "Super Lawyer" each year thereafter.. I earned my Bachelor of Science, with a double-major in International Affairs and Spanish and a minor in Latin American Studies, from Xavier University.
