I am licensed in State and Federal court and have represented more than 800 individual clients charged with thousands of crimes ranging from misdemeanor DUI to first degree murder.. I worked as a public defender for more than 10 years, first in Kansas City, Missouri, and then in Cheyenne, Wyoming.  During that time, I represented people who were charged with crimes ranging from fishing without a license to first degree murder.  No matter what the charge, I did my best to help my client through the difficult process and obtain a favorable outcome for them.. In order to help my clients achieve their goals, I became skilled at helping my clients find community programs to help with substance abuse and other issues; I learned to successfully negotiate with prosecutors for more lenient sentences, and I learned how to present my client's circumstances to the judge in the best way possible.. And when my client chose to go to trial, I fought hard for them.  I have tried more than 25 cases to a jury, and have obtained many acquittals.. Now, I have opened my own low-volume private practice so that I can dedicate more time and attention to each client.

Erik, a German native, studied at the University of Wyoming College of Law. Always eager to obtain hands-on experience, Erik joined the Legal Services Clinic under the supervision of John M. Burman. Additionally, he externed for the Rocky Mountain Innocence Center based out of the University of Utah for two years. While attending both programs, Erik developed a passion for criminal and family law matters. Upon graduating as the Clinic's Outstanding Student of the Year, Erik had the unique opportunity to work as an Assistant Public Defender in Casper, Wyoming. While in Casper, Erik began trying various misdemeanor and high-profile felony cases in the circuit and district courts. In an effort to couple his passions for family/domestic work and criminal matters, Erik began private practice in 2014.  Since then,  Erik became a partner of Corthell and King, P.C. in January 2015, and continues to successfully represent clients from all over the country in their respective legal matters within Wyoming's court system and in Federal Court.. Erik lives in Laramie with his beautiful wife, Marty, and their two big dogs, Cole and Lena. John Aitchison completed high school in three (3) years and graduated from the State University of New York at Albany with Honors before his 21st birthday.  He earned his J.D. from Temple Law School, where he competed on the nationally ranked trial team.  He has received awards for advocacy from the Pennsylvania Trial Lawyers Association, Philadelphia Trial Lawyers Association, and the American College of Trial Lawyers.. After graduating from law school, John served as an Assistant District Attorney in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania for four (4) years.  As an ADA, he prosecuted a wide variety of crimes, from misdemeanor drug arrests to DUI to capital murder cases.  He has overseen complex wiretap investigations involving narcotics and gambling, and trained law enforcement officers regarding search and seizure, wiretaps, and DUI.  Since leaving the District Attorney's Office, John's practice has focused on criminal defense, personal injury, and family law.

Nicholas Reifsnyder was raised in Pottstown, PA, where he went to Edgewood Elementary School, St. Aloysius School, and then The Hill School.  Nick graduated from Hill in 2000, and went to Harvard University, where he graduated in 2004.  At Harvard, Nick wrote for the Harvard Crimson and acted in several plays.  In the summer between his junior and senior years, he took a trip to Ghana, in West Africa, where he educated the local inhabitants about the dangers of the AIDS virus and established two libraries.. For law school, Nick went to Temple, returning to the Philadelphia area after a brief 4 year hiatus.  Nick participated in Temple's nationally renowned Trial Advocacy program, and received awards for Outstanding Oral Advocacy in 4 different classes.. In the summer between his 2nd and 3rd years of law school, Nick interned at the Montgomery County DA's Office.  He was hired full-time in 2008.  Nick spent 6 years at the DA's office, handling four homicide cases, working on the Economic Crimes Unit, the Drug Unit, and the Major Crimes unit.  Nick also established the Public Corruption Unit, and ran both the Elder Abuse Unit and the Gypsy Crimes Task Force. During his time at the office, Nick was selected to attend Top Gun, an advanced school run by the Pennsylvania State Police.  At Top Gun, Nick received training from the top detectives and prosecutors in the state on running a complex drug investigation.  Nick also received an official commendation from DA Risa Vetri Ferman for prosecuting the case of Commonwealth v. Leveel Bulter Hayes.  Mr. Hayes was convicted of 2nd Degree Murder and sentenced to life in jail.. In September 2014, Nick left the DA's office and currently works at the Law Offices of James P. Herman J. Weinrich, a partner at Timoney Knox, has been with the firm since 1985. Mr. Weinrich’s practice focuses on personal injury and commercial litigation.
