John Rolater has been an Assistant Criminal District Attorney for Collin County and Chief of the Appellate Division for eight years. Previously, he was an Assistant Criminal District Attorney for Dallas County for eleven years, including three years as Deputy Chief of the Appellate Division. In 2003, the Greater Dallas Crime Commission recognized him as the Henry Wade Prosecutor of the Year.. John has been involved in the post-conviction litigation of several high-profile capital cases. He has led reinvestigations and represented the State in litigation related to exonerations. He has been a legislative liaison for both the Collin and Dallas County Criminal District Attorneys.. John earned his BBA from the University of Texas at Austin and his J.D. from the Texas Tech University School of Law in Lubbock, where he served as an editor of the Law Review and was selected as a member of the Order of the Coif. Following law school, John clerked for the Honorable Paul McCollum and the Honorable Anne Crawford McClure of the El Paso Court of Appeals.. John is an active member of the Texas District and County Attorneys Association. He has taught continuing legal education courses for TDCAA, the State Bar of Texas, the Center for American and International Law, the Texas Center for the Judiciary and UT-CLE. He co-authored a book on confession law, now in its third edition. He is Board Certified in Criminal Appellate Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization.

Jeremy L. Clinefelter joined the Donnelly Law Office in 2016 after thirteen highly successful years with the Mower Country Attorney’s Office, where he was the lead Criminal Assistant County Attorney.. Mr. Clinefelter has handled hundreds of juvenile delinquency, child protection, and misdemeanor criminal cases during his time as an assistant county attorney.  Before joining the Donnelly Law Office, Mr. Clinefelter was the lead trial attorney in the Mower County Attorney’s Office where he handled the office’s most serious and complex felony cases.  Mr. Clinefelter tried over thirty-five felony cases and nearly forty jury trials during his career as a prosecutor for the State of Minnesota.. In addition to his trial experience, Mr. Clinefelter is also an accomplished appellate attorney.  He trained as a law clerk with the Minnesota Attorney General’s Office Appellate Division, was the primary appellate attorney for the Mover Country Attorney’s Office for thirteen years, and is a past member of the Minnesota Country Attorney’s Association Appellate Committee.  Mr. Clinefelter has handled over fifty appeals in the State of Minnesota, advocating in both the Minnesota Court of Appeals and the Minnesota Supreme Court.. Mr. Clinefelter graduated from Hamline University of Law in 2002, where he received several honors for moot court and advocacy skills.  While at Hamline, Mr. Clinefelter interned for the Honorable Donovan W. Frank, Judge of United States District Court, District of Minnesota; interned with the United States Attorney’s office, District of Minnesota; clerked for the Minnesota Attorney General’s Office; and clerked for the Minnesota Senate.. Mr. Clinefelter is active in the Austin community.  He is president of the Board of Directors for the Parenting Resource Center, Inc., a local non-profit; a member and graduate of the Blandin Community Leadership Program; a member of the Seibel Center Visitation and Exchange Center Consortium; the past President of the Mower County Law Library Board; a past award recipient of the Austin Human Rights Commission; and a coach for the Austin Youth Soccer Association.
