After practicing for years in firm settings, I embarked on a path of my own, seeking a personal relationship with my clients that a firm did not always allow.  My goals for each case are driven by the recognition that in a complex world, my clients have complex problems, and that the best way to resolve their problems is by working closely with each client and understanding that every client and every case is different.

I am a seasoned criminal defense attorney praciting in Southern Maryland. I represent clients charged with all manner of cases in Southern Maryland state courts.

I started my career working as a prosecutor in the Baltimore City State's Attorney's Office. From 2003 to 2007, I prosecuted cases ranging from simple misdemeanors to complex felonies. I came to the conclusion that the criminal justice system in Baltimore was disfunctional and often treated people unfairly, especially the poor and vulnerable. I left because I wanted to help people and because I did not want to continue to be part of the failed war on drugs.. I believe in going to court with a solution, not a problem.  What I do in my practice is try to understand why my clients got into trouble and determine how I can make a difference in their future.  Properly preparing a client and their case before court is the most important job I have;  it can make a difference in the success of their case.

Annie Myers is an associate attorney with Cochran and Chhabra, LLC. Ms. Myers is licensed to practice law in Maryland.. Ms. Myers sparked an interest in the law while working as a Victim’s Advocate for the YWCA of Annapolis and Anne Arundel County Domestic Violence Legal Services. During her 6 years at the YWCA, she formed lasting professional relationships with local law enforcement, commissioners, court staff, prosecutors, public defenders, private attorneys and judges. She then transitioned from the civil to the criminal arena, accepting a position with the Anne Arundel County State’s Attorney’s Office as a Victim/Witness Specialist. In seven years with the State’s Attorney’s Office, Ms. Myers earned herself a reputation for diplomacy and strong advocacy, gaining extensive experience with the inner workings of the criminal justice process, both in the District and Circuit Courts.. Ms. Myers firmly believes that every person is entitled to a strong and persuasive defense. Once she completed law school and joined the bar, she made the decision to join a defense oriented firm. She knew she wanted to work for a firm that promises to fight hard for their clients, so she joined Cochran and Chhabra.. Ms. Myers earned her Bachelors of Art in Jurisprudence from the University of Baltimore. During her undergraduate years, she lived in London, England and Bangalore, India. She subsequently obtained her Masters of Art in Criminal Justice from the University of Massachusetts. While with the State’s Attorney’s Office, Ms. Myers was accepted to the University Of Baltimore School Of Law, where she attended law school at night while working full-time during the day.. Ms. Myers is an Anne Arundel County native. During her high school years, she traveled to La Ceiba, Honduras three times, where she worked on various community service projects. It was in Honduras that she became fluent in Spanish. Ms. Myers resides with her husband, Andrew, their three dogs, and a rotating cast of foster cats from BARCS Animal Shelter, where she has been an active volunteer since 2013. When she is not working, Ms. Myers enjoys hiking, camping, knitting and traveling.
