I am dedicated to fostering respectful, solution-oriented approaches to family law, while always keeping the goals and needs of my clients at the forefront of my work. Understanding how difficult and sometimes traumatic the transitions can be for individuals going through divorce or custody matters, I strive to empower my clients through education, understanding, and compassionate representation.. My passion for supporting clients in transition stems from my early experiences as an undergraduate at University of Chicago and law school student at UCLA School of Law. During this time, I represented parents in the child welfare system, where I provided parents with support and resources needed to reunite them with their children. In law school, I also represented detained clients with mental illnesses in asylum proceedings, which strengthened my advocacy skills and commitment to supporting vulnerable populations. After graduating from law school, I continued to engage in family advocacy through my policy work at Planned Parenthood.. I have training in domestic violence counseling, which guides the way I support clients who have experienced domestic violence. I also have training in mediation and collaborative divorce as I resolutely believe in the power of conflict resolution through a more peaceful, amicable process when possible. I currently serve on the board of the Collaborative Practice Group, Golden Gate, and am an active member of the Divorce Options Committee, dedicated to developing trainings that educate the community about how to navigate the divorce process. I am also a member of the Collaborative Practice Group of San Mateo County.

Roberto C. Jimenez is an experienced trial attorney focusing in criminal defense and family law. Mr. Jimenez has been practicing in the Bay Area for 17 years and is active in both State and Federal Courts. He earned his Bachelor of Arts in Legal Studies from the University of California at Santa Cruz and his Juris Doctor from the University of California at Berkeley School of Law (Boalt Hall). I am a Berkeley native. I moved to New York after high school and spent most of the next 15 years there, first in college, then the workforce, and finally in law school.. In the middle of that period, I returned to Berkeley to get a master's degree in city planning from Cal and work as a city planner in Sonoma.. After moving back to New York and working in city planning for five years there, I decided to try something else. Law school had never been on my radar, but I discovered that it was a perfect fit for me. I didn't want to leave New York, however, and I was fortunate enough to be admitted to the Benjamin N. Cardozo School Law, located at 5th Avenue and 12th Street in Manhattan. I enrolled in 2002 and graduated in 2005.. After finishing law school, I moved back to Berkeley. I have been working as a lawyer since 2006. I have had my own practice since 2007.. I practice family law exclusively.. I became a family law attorney because it gives me the chance to help folks on a very personal level, which is important to me. People who come to see me are inevitably going through a difficult time, and I thrive on getting them through it as quickly and effectively as possible.

I was fortunate to find my passion for family law at an early age and decided to dedicate my legal education and career to this challenging, yet rewarding niche field, where I help individuals and families navigate a range of stressful and complex legal (and emotional) challenges through litigation and mediation consultation. Prior to opening his firm, Ian worked in both civil litigation and family law firms in both San Diego and the San Francisco Bay Area. Ian graduated Magna Cum Laude from the Thomas Jefferson School of Law in San Diego, California, where he was a member of the Thomas Jefferson Law Review and served a term as its Lead Notes Editor. During law school, Ian volunteered his legal services as a certified law student to homeless military veterans through the Veterans Legal Assistance Clinic. Ian graduated with a B.A. in creative writing from the University of Arizona. Ian is originally from New York and has lived in California since 2008.
