I am a retired military officer - almost 27 years total service (active and reserves) - and a disabled veteran.  I am, however, fortunate to have run three marathons - and hope to run more - in my life: Oklahoma City; Honolulu; and Cayman Islands.  I like to help my clients achieve a relaxed attitude.  Most are upset about the circumstances in which they currently find themselves, or they would not be seeing me.  I take them to golf - SWFL has some simply magnificant courses - and encourage them to do things they find relaxing so that our communication about the pending issues can be more precise.  While Church - and being a Christian - is very, very important to me, I do not "force" my belief on others.  However, those who know me know that my beliefs and values and see that as an asset.

Mindy Ellen Wheeler is a proud Wichita native, and a graduate of Wichita East High School and Wichita State University. Before deciding to go to law school, Ms. Wheeler worked in the Wichita banking industry for nearly a decade. Thereafter, she returned to Wichita State University and received her bachelor’s degree in History and Philosophy.  In 2012, she returned home to Wichita after graduating from the University of Iowa College of Law and worked for three years as a legal assistant in a family law practice. In the summer of 2015, while awaiting the results of the Kansas Bar Exam, she began working with attorney Jack Peggs. After learning that she had passed the exam and would be admitted to practice law in Kansas, she and Mr. Peggs decided to form a partnership, combining his vast legal knowledge and many years of law practice experience with her education, experience and energy. Monica’s academic excellence earned a full-tuition scholarship to Washburn University School of Law, where she attained her Juris Doctorate. While in law school, Monica was elected Student Bar Association Secretary, Kansas Bar Association Representative, and International Law Society Faculty Liaison. She was also a member of the Family Law Society. Based on her superior legal writing and research skills, she was selected to mentor other law students as the Legal Analysis, Research and Writing Teacher’s Assistant. Monica participated in internships at the Kansas Association for Justice, where she attended meetings of the Kansas House Judiciary Committee and analyzed proposed statutory amendments; the Washburn Law Clinic; and the Johnson County District Attorney’s Office, where she prosecuted domestic violence cases.. Pat joined Chuck Bretz & Associates in 2008.  Pat began her legal career in 1987 working as an Associate attorney at the Chicago Law firm of Johnson & Bell, where she concentrated her practice in Medical malpractice and Insurance Defense.  She then spent several years engaged in the general practice of law as a sole practitioner..
