I earned my Juris Doctor degree in 2010 at the Texas Wesleyan University School of Law, which is now known as the Texas A&M University School of Law. Prior to practicing law, I taught classes in writing and literature at Texas Woman’s University, where I completed the coursework necessary for a doctoral degree in Rhetoric. After I left the TWU, I worked for years as a board-certified medical and scientific editor.. This pre-law education and experience have made me particularly good at drafting documents that are unambiguous and conflict-free. As an editor of highly technical texts, where meanings change with the placement of a comma, I developed a highly honed eye for detail. In addition, I am able to quickly and thoroughly read documents that other attorneys have drafted. I often find mistakes or unintended meanings that other readers have missed.. Many people who have little to no experience with the legal system find the idea of appearing before a judge or jury scaring and threatening. Although I often try to come to agreements outside of a court ruling, I am comfortable in a court environment. My education in Rhetoric, as well as my teaching, has made me adept at constructing messages to fit their particular purpose and reach their intended audience. This makes me a “natural” in the courtroom, where I am called upon to sway a judge’s opinion to get the desired result for my client.. Amy Hayes is a small-town girl that grew up in the South watching SEC football and losing her flip-flops in her gransparent's garden.  Amy graduated cum laude with a BA from Auburn University in 2000 and JD from Oklahoma City University School of Law in 2003. Amy's career has been spent between a couple of larger firms in Oklahoma City, working as a federal government attorney, or chasing an oil rig. Additionally, she has worked as a commercial negotiatior for a fortune 500 Oil and Gas company, which gave her extensive training on negotiations and real world business practices that is not taught in a regular law school curriculum.. Hayes Legal Solutions, PLLC was created as a result of COVID bringing attention to the fact the traditional business models for law firms in Oklahoma is broken.  Prior to COVID, it was very rare that you could get an attorney to have a virtual zoom meeting with you or set up a consultation outside of the 9:00 to 5:00 office hours. Covid has taught us Oklahomans want  access to legal services on their schedule instead of the attorneys.. Additionally, we have learned that potential clients need and want to find "true value" in the services they receive from an attorney.  Now, clients care less about who has the fanciest office and more about who can provide the service they need without breaking the bank or making them use all their vacation time. We have listened to the feedback from clients and created a law firm that gives clients what they want, when they want it.

I have been a practicing attorney since 2008 and my practice has focused almost exclusively on child custody and family law matters. I first began practicing juvenile dependency law as a trial attorney for Los Angeles Dependency Lawyers, Inc. As a trial attorney, I conducted dozens of significant and complex trials on issues such as child coaching and parental alienation, allegations of sexual abuse, and cases where there were allegations of severe physical abuse resulting in permanent physical injury to the child involved. I have extensive experience and training in the intricacies of examining and cross-examining expert witnesses and I have secured the dismissal of numerous juvenile dependency petitions, including several Welfare & Institutions Code section 300(e) petitions, by effectively employing or cross-examining medical expert witnesses.. My practice later focused more on juvenile dependency writ and appeal practice. In this capacity, I reviewed trial court proceedings to determine if there were any legal errors committed, conducted extensive legal research regarding potential errors, and authored and argued appellate briefs before the court of appeals.. As a family law practitioner, I have successfully argued a number of motions, including motions to modify temporary custody orders and motions for attorney’s fees. I have extensive experience with family law and motion practice and family law discovery motion practice and I have authored numerous briefs on a wide range of issues.. I have accomplished what many believed to be the impossible - I graduated law school summa cum laude while working part-time and being a wife and mother. By working prior to attending law school, I gained experience in both life and the workforce.  As a result, I have insight into people's needs and desires more so than had I graduated high school, attended college, and attended law school. While I was content and worked hard, I always wanted to be a lawyer and have a special interest in family law and fathers' rights. So I made the decision and went law school.. In addition to a job as a law clerk and caring for my children, I was also a member of law review and moot court. More importantly though, I participated in a family law internship and worked for a law firm in which one attorney focused on family law, working along side of her gaining knowledge and experience. The other attorney had me work on debt collection defense and personal injury cases.. Based upon my own life experience and my legal experience, I know that clients in these types of matters have special needs and I have the compassion and experience to meet these needs.
