I started my career in family law over 10 years ago, and my professional and personal experiences have taught me the importance of ending a marriage with as much dignity as possible. Prior to joining Rech Law, I practiced with a family law firm in Charlotte.. I am a native Charlottean and a graduate of Charlotte School of Law, where I graduated in the top ten percent of my class. During law school, I worked in a family advocacy clinic, where I had the opportunity to represent parents whose children were in Department of Social Services’ custody. I also interned with the Mecklenburg County Family Court Administrator’s Office, the Honorable Louis A. Trosch, Jr., and in the Legal Department for Matthews-based Family Dollar, Inc., and volunteered with the Mecklenburg County Self-Serve Center.. Prior to attending law school, I was a legal assistant to a family law practitioner for almost seven years. I also volunteered for the Mecklenburg County Guardian ad litem program for over two years. I earned my bachelor’s degree from Queens University of Charlotte where I majored in American Political Science and was named Political Science Student of the Year. While at Queens, I was an active member of Alpha Delta Pi Sorority.. In my free time I enjoy spending time with my husband, Jon, and our Labrador retriever mix, Sawyer. I also volunteer with the Yancey County Humane Society and the Humane Society of Charlotte.

I am originally from a small town in Southwest Virginia, and came to Charlotte in 2013. I fell in love with the area so I decided to call it home! I am currently a member of the North Carolina Bar Association. I am licensed to practice law in North Carolina, and have been sworn in to practice in the Federal Court for the Western District of North Carolina as well as the Middle District of North Carolina. Barry Wolinetz has been practicing law for over 40 years. Maria Ximena Sussman was born in Guatemala and is fluent in Spanish.   She came to the United States as a child and she has called the "Queen City" her home ever since.   She is married with three children and attends Carmel Baptist Church.  She enjoys reading and spending time with family and friends.
