Andrea Erwin Potter was born in New Orleans and spent most of her early childhood in Metairie, Louisiana. At the age of 10 she moved about 60 miles west of New Orleans to a small town on the bayou, Thibodaux. She graduated from Thibodaux High in 1998. Missing the vibe of the city, she returned to New Orleans and received her B.A. in Public Relations from Tulane University in 2006, the first semester after Hurricane Katrina. Then she went on to receive her J.D. degree from Loyola University College of Law, graduating with a 3.369.. While attending Loyola, Mrs. Potter served on the Journal of Public Interest, Loyola’s Trial Advocacy Organization and represented clients under Professor Cheryl Buchert in the Stuart H. Smith Law Clinic and Center for Social Justice. She was selected as a teaching assistant by Dr. JoAnne Sweeny for Legal Research and Writing. She was honored by the American Bar Association as a third-place winner of the Schwab Memorial Essay hosted by the Family Law Section. She was awarded the Best Direct Examination by the Trial Advocacy Board of 2011.. Andrea’s emphasis in her law practice stems from her own childhood as a product of divorce. As she grew up her curiosity was piqued as to why she could not live with her father all the time. So, while attending law school she decided her focus would be family law and child advocacy. In 2010, Andrea worked for the Honorable Mary Devereux at the 22nd Judicial District Court where she learned divorce methods, community property settlements, co-parenting guidelines including visitation, custody and support, and prenuptial agreements.
