I was Assistant Attorney General for 16 years in the Child and Family Protection Division of the Arizona Attorney General’s Office. I had an amazing career in government, but the time had come for me to make the move from public to private family law practice. In my years with the AGO, I interacted professionally with many law firms here in the Valley and I wanted to work with the best. Having seen firsthand the caliber of attorneys working with the Stewart Law Group, their professionalism, high ethical standards, and the quality work they were doing for their clients, that was the firm I wanted to work for. And in 2016, I joined the family law team as Associate Attorney.. When I’m not at the office, I volunteer in the community for “Neighbors Who Care,” an organization that arranges for dinner delivery to homebound elderly Arizonans. I’m looking forward to taking on more challenges, doing important work for those who need legal help and advice, and being more active in my local community. When the agenda is simply to relax, I love travelling to destinations known for their sandy beaches or mountain vistas. As an attorney, you carry a lot of your client’s stress. So I try to maintain a healthy lifestyle, have lots of fun, and stay fit doing hot yoga, playing tennis, hiking, and trail running whenever and wherever I can.
Having been fortunate to find employment with firms specializing in more than one area of the law, my experience ranges from personal injury to high conflict family law cases. A little over two years ago, I made the decision to exclusiveluy focus on family law cases. I made this choice because I found it was the area of law where I was making the greatest difference in people's lives. Don't get me wrong, people are pleased when they receive large sums of money from the insurance company. Notwithstanding a sizeable payday, people are grateful when you positively intervene in the part of their life that means more to them than money ever could; that is of course, their family.
My areas of focus include; domestic relations, business litigation, personal injury & criminal defense. Prior to entering private practice I was the Law Clerk for the Fourth Judicial Circuit of South Dakota and have the privilege of working under the Circuit’s six Judges.
I have more than 20 years of experience as a trial attorney and focus the majority of my practice on family law and civil litigation.. By way of background, I graduated magna cum laude from New York University in 1993 and was awarded my law degree by the University of Connecticut School of Law in 1997 where I was an editor of the Insurance Law Reivew. Following law school, I clerked for the Honorable Francis X. Hennessey of the Connecticut Appellate Court and worked as a litigator before starting my own law firm. In addition to my work as an attorney, I spend time giving presentations and lectures to other lawyers on trial skills, personal injury cases, and evidentiary issues.. I am a proud resident of Orange, Connecticut, where I live with my husband and our three children.. Virtual Office Space: In addition to our physical space, my law office is virtual and, if you need a little extra help or are nervous about using Zoom, we will work with you to ensure that you are comfortable with the technology before we meet.
I am a D.C. native who grew up on Capitol Hill. I attended Columbia University and graduated with a degree of Political Science. I lettered in Crew and Football.. I attended Georgetown University School of Law. I now represent corporate and individual clients, as both plaintiffs and defendants. My practice is primarily in the areas of family law, bankruptcy, and landlord/tenant issues. I have successfully represented dozens of clients brought their cases to closure to trial in both Virginia and Maryland federal and state courts.. While I enjoy arguing the issues before a judge, I am often able to resolve cases through mediation and negotiation. This particulariliy makes sense in the areas of divorce and child custody and support.. I like to think that when life is at its most challenging, I can help you turn it around!
