Kaitlyn J. Andren is a partner at Terzich & Ort, LLP, who devotes her practice exclusively to family law. She brings a thoughtful and practical approach to helping clients with a wide range of family law issues, including divorce, legal separation, physical custody, legal custody, parenting time, child support, spousal maintenance, property division, debt allocation, paternity, contempt, domestic abuse, harassment, and step-parent adoption.. Before joining Terzich & Ort, LLP, in 2019, Kaitlyn developed her family law practice while working for several years as a family law attorney at another small family law firm. Wahl at the Family Justice Center in Hennepin County and worked as a Special Assistant County Attorney in the family law division of the Anoka County Attorney’s Office. Pooley, A20-1250 (Minn. 2022), which was a case regarding omitted assets in a divorce. The Minnesota Supreme Court ruled in favor of appellant, which was a huge victory for making sure financially abusive spouses are prevented from forcing their victims to agree to extremely inequitable divisions of property while leaving them no recourse to challenge those divisions.. Kaitlyn also helped a client successfully appeal an Order for Protection matter in 2018. In re the Matter of Hansen v. Richter, A17-1063 (Minn. Ct. App. 2018) (nonprecedential opinion).. While up to five percent of the lawyers in Minnesota are named to Super Lawyers®, no more than two and a half percent are named to the Rising Stars list.. Kaitlyn has also been recognized as a North Star Lawyer by the Minnesota State Bar Association for providing at least 50 hour of pro bono legal services to low-income individuals at no fee and without expectation of a fee.. Kaitlyn earned her Bachelor of Arts from Gustavus Adolphus College and her Juris Doctor from the University of St. Thomas School of Law. I tend to be actively involved in my community and local politics.  Beyond that, you'll typically find me on some body of water in Minnesota, frozen or open, catching fish, boating with family, relaxing in the sun.

What sets me apart from other attorneys: 1.  I care about my clients and want them to come out of this process with more than just a legal document.  I want to help them gain insight and perspective along the way and make the journey through the legal system as painless as possible. 2.  I’m never too busy for you.  While I do need to have time for my family, I have responded to emails on holidays and weekends simply because I had noticed a client email on my phone.  If my spending 10 minutes answering a question on Friday night at 10pm will keep you from stressing out until Monday, then I’m happy to do it whenever I can. 3.  You catch more flies with honey, but sometimes you just need to smack 'em with a newspaper.  I do my best to keep things friendly with the other party and their attorney as long as possible because that is the best and most effective way to solve problems.  However, because I care about my clients, I don’t tolerate them being taken advantage of and will fight tooth and nail if that’s what’s required to protect them. 4.  I spend far more time on your case than shows up on your bill because I believe in billing you for the value of the services I provide, not the length of time it takes for me to complete a task.  If I spend an hour rewriting an email that should have taken 15 minutes to write, then you get billed for 15 minutes. 5. I do all of the work myself.  The more expensive and prestigious your attorney, the more likely that most of the work is being done by paralegals or junior associates.  When you call, you talk to me.  When you need a letter written, I’m the one writing it. It’s not just a form letter that the assistant printed up and signed my name to.
