Cynthia J. Cynthia graduated from Baylor University in 1993 with a degree in psychology/neuroscience and worked in the clinical psychology field as a group home manager, counselor, parenting supervisor, and community mental health case manager for the next five years. In addition to gaining extensive courtroom experience while prosecuting domestic violence and child welfare cases as a member of the family violence unit, she also served as the office's public liaison on domestic violence and taught constitutional, domestic violence, and child abuse law to new officers at the police academy. In 2004, she relocated to the Denver metro area to open her own practice and never looked back. She has built a successful career and practice in the child welfare, adult protection, and family law areas and has served as court appointed counsel, private counsel, and guardian ad litem in well over one thousand child welfare, adult protection, and family law cases and appeals in Colorado. Her clinical psychology and counseling background, combined with twenty plus years as an attorney gives her a valuable perspective on the impact of substance abuse, mental health, and cognitive decline on family dynamics and a unique understanding of how to work with families in the legal system that are specifically affected by such issues..
